Garage door incident... ugh!

Well it had to happen, my first "damage" to Fintan.

Yesterday, my son and I were going to the store. I hit the garage door opener to open the door. While it's raising, I am talking to my son and getting into the car, start up, look in my rear view mirrors like always and see "daylight".

Then as I back out, I hear a loud "crunch and SNAP"!!

I look up through the sunroof, see that the garage door had malfunctioned and did not raise all the way. So, I jump out fearing the worst (roof/spoiler damage). Thankfully, the garage door stopped just above the spoiler/roof and the snap was the antenna breaking in half.

There was a "silver lining" in all of this, I get to lose the "funny" antenna and replace it with a stubby (my first mod!). Thank goodness for NAM, because I quickly reviewed what was available from the vendors here and placed my order to Coopersport.com.

You know you love your MINI when, it just doesn't feel right when it's not "whole" - bad Feng Shui.

My garage door did the same thing last week!!! Thankfully it happened as I was driving into my garage after work or I would've lost my antenna too. I hope your Mini gets better soon....

ouch! good thing it didn't destroy something you can't easily replace.

so after reading the nam reviews, which stubby antenna did you decide on? i am also looking to switch mine out but don't have time at work right now to read all the reviews!

that's for sure...I was looking for something very plain, smooth, no "ridges", and cheap, so I went with the Micro Antenna #16312 @ coopersport.com

They had color variations but I chose black.

We'll see if anyone else chimes in. I'll post the answer before I go to bed, in about half an hour.

Okay, I'm tired, 5:00 am was a long time ago.

This is a Collision claim as the OP was backing the car at the time and he struck the door.

Had the car been stopped under the door and it came down and struck the car, *that* would be a comp claim.

Hope your car gets fixed good-as-new, AC.
