Dealer Buy Back Question...

Owners who ordered a lot of dealer accessories on their car will probably be able to answer this question better but I was wondering if the dealer offered to buy any of the standard parts back that were taken off your cars and replaced with others. For example for anyone who has the JCW aero kit installed did the dealer buy back the standard front and read ends from you etc. etc.

Thanks.

No. You can have them give you the parts they take off--you're entitled to them--but they didn't buy back any of mine, nor offer to. I haven't heard of any dealer doing this. Be nice though.

don't expect to get anything (parts or $$) if it's installed at the port.

I'm not having anything installed at the port/VDC. The JCW suspension and leather/alcantara steering wheel will be installed at the dealer and I'll be installing everything else myself. Figured if I'm going to be giving the dealers close to 40K for the car there's no way I'm paying their exorbitant garage rates too. Looks like I'll be selling my new parts here on NAM and over on ebay then!

NAM, Ebay, or your local body shop that your dealer uses.
You can find some interested parties after a track event sometimes...

if your ambitious, you can install the suspension and wheel yourself. There are plenty of writeups on both topics.

I would definitely recommend checking out the wheel install.

No the dealer wont buy them back because they cannot legaly sell them. They are considered "used" even though it is a brand new part.

the dealer does do the buying, the car manufacturer does.
when i worked for ford we had a customer with a problematic f150. it had tons of accessories on it. ford bought it back. one of the goodies that was installed was a painted hard tanneau cover for the bed. it wasn't an oem ford motor co. part. but he had a receipt for it. ford paid him 100% of the cost of that part.
the customer in turn bought a new f150 (different bed length) and with the extra cash from ford,he bought a new cover.

This thread isn't about buying back lemons. It's about the dealership buying take-off parts.
