R56 Battery in Key Fob
Battery in Key Fob
Has anyone else had a problem with the battery in the convenience key fob popping out because the lid isn't held on securely? Looks to be a design flaw because both keys I received with my '07 have the same issue. I'm at work and I just noticed my battery and the lid are gone, but luckily it's not my week to drive in my 2 person car pool. It must be somewhere in the house, but this could happen anywhere. Not good!
Sorry if this has been covered, but I did a search and could not find it readily.

I haven't heard this brought up as a concern before. I've dropped my key fob a couple of times and the battery lid has remained tightly in place. Both of my fobs seem identical in that manner.
My car was an early March 2007 build, meaning it's almost reached it's manufacturing birthday. Yippee.
Hopefully, you won't get any posts from people who don't have convenience access and whose fobs don't have a removable lid.

If you take it apart to change or inspect the battery, you need to be sure you get it back together just right. Otherwise, the lid will come off very easily.

I've dropped mine a few times as well, never had this problem. I just tried to pry the thing open with a moderate amount of force and my fingernail. That little lid didn't even budge. Perhaps you have a bad set, time to talk to the dealer.

I never took it apart. It came apart on it's own. I thought it was just one bad fob, but when I checked my spare it had the same issue.
Yes, it's different. My wife has an '07 MC w/o the convenience package and I have an '07 MCS with it. The convenience fob has a lid on the back whereas the regular fob does not.
