FUEL MILEAGE

Has anyone paid attention to the new mileage estimations on the Minis for 2008??? The mileage on both the Mini and Mini S has decreased approximately 3 mpg on both town and highway estimations. I know that the engines have not changed but wonder if there has been additional emissions or something done to decrease the mileage.

A percentage was taken off of the 2007 results across the board. People felt the EPA estimates were to high compared to the current driving styles people have.

The equation to find MPG has changed. It is more realistic now. Mini's mpg isn't the only one that went down, every car has. =) Don't worry, your mpg should be the same.

Indeed the way they calculate fuel economy has changed and dropped mileage on all vehicles across the board. Interestingly, auto MINIs are supposed to get less fuel economy than manuals (34 or so truly), but my auto MINI gets an average of 37 actual.

All I know is, I commute approximately 90 mi per day and my MINI is my commuter. When I had an '05 V6 Kia Optima, I was having to fill up every 3 or 4 days. Now I completely fill up once a week. And I'm not exactly what you might call a slow driver! Fortunately, most of my commute is desolate country road with little watchage in the way of our blue and white friends.
