Cruise Control Different Display!

Hello, I took my MINI to the dealer, they gave a loaner. I noticed that in the loaner when I turn on the cruise control will give a display saying at what mph I set the cruise control too, my MINI doesn't do that. I like that option because you can actually see witch speed you are setting the MINI. Another thing I notice is that when I pressed the Sports button, in the display will show for a second or two "Sport" and then will display the mph again. I asked the dealer and they didn't know exactly why. They said because the loaners were a few months newer than mine. Any ideas? Who has that and who doesn't?

They gave 2 loaner S and non-S and both of them did it and mine doesn't. I got mine in July(MINI Cooper Auto 07).

Thank You

You may need to upgrade? you software. I have heard that softwre controls alot of the features. They should check it every time you bring it in for service.

Those were things that started appearing around the week 32 builds in August.

Mine was delivered in May. I'm scheduled for a software upgrade on Dec. 12. I'll try to remember to post here if my cruise display changes. I have the NAV.

Mine has the new cruise control display feature as mine was built this past october, week 43~44 i think. It is totally cool to view the actual speed it is set at and then increase it with the touch of the button. I should note also that in the new 2008 model peterbilts (semi trucks) I've driven they also have this feature on the cruise control with the digital speed readout and incrimental increase/decrease. It must be standard now on these computerized user-friendly vehilcles nowadays.

Well I took my MINI for an Oil Change, and I told them to do all the software upgrades and they claim they did. Thats when I called them back and they said that I would have to take the MINI to them but they weren't sure if they could do it.

It's different in that it displays your set cruise speed, not current speed. So as you hit the plus/minus buttons you can see exactly what speed your MINI will accelerate/decelerate to even before it's actually there. Also not everyone chooses to have their speed displayed in the tach window. I for one prefer to have either my fuel mileage or distance to empty there.

Ahhhhhh, OK. So the SET speed in the tach, and the ACTUAL/CURRENT speed on the central dial. I get it now.

Those are not features that are added through a software update. I have an early March build and brought it home a couple of weeks ago after having an Ipod adaptor and Sirius radio added. They also did a general car software upgrade.

Neither the cruise control speed nor the sport button usage show up on the tach.

It did, however, fix the problem with the sunroof. It now stops at the crack position and then you release and press again to open the sliding roof. Works the same way to close it.

Maybe it's only on the S models. I noticed your photo is a mc.

I haven't heard of those kinds of differences between an MC and an S. Interesting thought, though.

BTw the sunroof control is kind of funky. sometimes it the toggle just raises the roof and sometimes it raises it and opens the roof. I have read somewhere on NAM that it is the amount of pressure on hte switch. can you confirm this?

also, if you have the auto wipers you can set how much it rains before the wipers come on.

Ghosthound,
looks like you have similar package as me. With the comfort access can you set it up so that when you walk away from the car the doors lock automatically? The manual says this is an option, pg22 (?), but MINI service says that it may be an option only if you have the alarm installed

That was the way mine was until I got the software update. You kind of flicked it for a moment to sort of get to the cracked open state. Or kept constant pressure to get the front roof to slide open.

Now, it stops at the cracked position with the constant pressure. You release and press again to get it to open all the way.

That has been a complaint since the R56's arrival. It doesn't work that way. You have to press the black button or the key fob to either unlock or lock the car.

No, the new cruise control display is in both MC and MCS. I know this because they gave two loaners an S and non-S, and both of them had the new cruise control display.
