Warning light question

This is the symbol for the rear fog light(by my owner's manual). My car does not have the rear fog light option. And I think the triangle preceding the mileage is caused by thie warning light coming on. Any ideas on putting these out? I have tried repeatedly with no luck.

The copy of the owners manual I downloaded does not show that symbol for the display.

If you have a rear fog light, there is a rear fog indicator light with that symbol, facing left, without the exclamation point, but nothing for the display.

On p. 52, it says that that triangle w/ exclamation point symbol means that Check Control messages have been stored.

Looking in the owners manual, it is not for the rear fog light. But I can not find that symbol in the manual anywhere. Maybe when my tire pressure monitor went on, it stored it in the Check Control Messages. I wonder if there is a way to clear these codes, or if it needs to be done by the dealer? Back to the book......

When I exceed the pre-set speed limit I have dialed into the system, a warning comes up in the display window on the tachometer and then the warning triangle appears as well.

That is part of what Mini calls "check control." There is an explanation of it beginning on Page 60 of my manual. Because I have the sat nav, it may be in a different place in your manual. Look in the index under that name.

Basically, the triangle tells you that a warning message has been stored. The stored messages can be viewed using the turn signal stalk. If you have the sat nav, you can view them under the "setup" and "info sources" menus.

Page 52 in my manual. I have no codes that I can find. As I said, I did have my tire pressure monitor light come on,and reset that . So I guess that once stored, the dealer is the only one who can clear them. I'll try again in the morning. Thanks for your help.

Did you try going into the check control message area? It should give you a readout of the message.

I assume the light may stay on until the supposed problem is corrected. My triangle warning goes out after I reduce my speed back under the limit I've set. If your windshield, err, windsreen washer is low, the warning would go out after you refill the container, I assume.

That is, by the way, the symbol that's on the rear fog light switch and that is displayed on one of the speedometer display circles when the rear fog light is on (sans explanation point). I don't ever remember it showing up on the tach display though.

That's what I thought. But , as you say(and in the owner's manual), it is not supposed to show up on the Tach display. If I don't figure it out today, I'll swing by the dealer later this week.

I think this means it thinks you have a rear fog lamp burned out. If you don't have rear fogs, that might mean your OBC is mis-programmed.

How do you set the speed limit? That could actually be useful under certain circumstances...

Yep, you need some reprograming.

I have been through that procedure a dozen times. I cannot bring up that symbol to reset it(although I was able to clear the tire pressure symbol easily). The symbol light goes out after 15 seconds, but the little red triangle is always on. Hoping to swing by the dealer Friday to see what it is. I'll post the cause/cure.

For those with sat nav, you use the joystick and go into the "navigation" menu, followed by "car data" and "change limit."

I found it unecessary to change it from the 150 mph stock setting.

Looks like you had the correct answer. At the dealer now, and they are contacting England tomorrow to find out what they need to do to reprogram the OBC to turn it off.
