PCV covered under California extended emissions?

Hello All!

I have a 2010 clubman S that the dealer stated needs a new PCV as it is stuck and is consuming oil due to higher pressure. I see that some other manufacturers cover PCV valves under their extended California emissions, but the mini warranty book does not include it. Not only is it listed in other manufactures as a covered repair, but it is listed on FAQ pages on the web as a possible covered item.

Since the PCV valve is part of the crankcase cover, the whole cover needs to be replaced. :(

Thanks for any info that might help me decide if I should ask the dealer for a warranty repair.

Ken

Hello,

Some people have gotten them to replace on warranty , but as far as I know its not under emissions. If you are close on mileage ( 50,000 miles) and over on time 4+yrs, sometimes they will cover it, call around in Cali there are several dealerships , otherwise we have all the parts here, not just the valve cover.

Valve Cover Part # 11127646555

Thanks

3yr / 50k miles for CA on the pcv. Some parts are seven years. Edit , actually up to eight years, catalytic converters.

I brought my 2010 "S" in to the dealer today, have about 56K miles for a CEL and limp home mode that comes and goes. My generic code tester showed P3019 which is not in the Bentley book but points to the high pressure fuel side. The service writer said that the fuel pump is covered under extended emissions warranty (hoping that is the problem.) It seems to me that the PCV is a critical part of emissions control and should be covered. I hope MINIUSA agrees.

Update: East Bay MINI tested the high pressure side and the fuel pump, determined it was bad and replaced it under emissions warranty. No more cold engine bucking or MIL limp mode. I also had an indie shop do the walnut blast to smooth out the airflow. Next: upgrade the air filter and box to K&N or JCW.

If memory serves me correctly, a MIL light would have to be on and/or the car fails an emissions test for the part to covered under the emissions warranty. The car would also have to be registered in CA.

Just got my '09 Clubman out of the dealer for an oil change. Advisor called me to tell me I had excessive oil leaks at the back of the engine because the valve cover was warped. All repairs were going to be 2000 dlls. I researched and found some guys are blocking the passenger side PCV and putting a catch can on the drivers side. After I picked up the car it wasn't soaked as the advisor said. More like some seepage along the top of the valve cover. But nothing running down the side of the head. With this mod, in addition to slowing down leaks, it should reduce the amount of carbon buildup inside the intake ports and back of the admission valves. Will post more updates

I just had my timing kit replaced-so the valve cover gasket too. I saw that was leaking a little bit so figured I'd be good. They told me it was still weeping a bit relating to the PCV-never heard of a valve cover being a wear item. I was contemplating an OCC also-wondering if this is a good idea and how it may effect current issue. It does seem that it's emissions related and should be covered.
