Pet Barrier Advice

Looking to purchase a Pet Barrier for the back of my 2008 Clubman. Any recommendations? I am looking at the: Travall TDG1361-Dog Guard for $139.99, but don't see any reviews on it. Was just curious as to what other MINI owners are using.

I have the MINI one, it's nice. I was hesitant to buy it because I didn't want black and white checkers, but the white checks are actually grey, and it looks pretty good. Plus it was cheaper and I didn't have to pay for shipping since I picked it up at the dealership.

Get the mini dog guard, well worth it. I bought it for my wife's car as a surprise after we brought the car home in late 2008. We have 3 border collies(and countless friends dogs that have ridden in the car since then) and do not have one tear or rip. Folds up easily enough to use the back seats for human friends too.

clintb - I have not used the Travall TDG1361-Dog Guard but it looks to me like it is ONLY used with the back seats in the upright position as instructions on use show you that it mounts between the seat back holder and the seat back.

http://www.dogguardsandcages.com/media/pdf/TDG1361.pdf

That is fine for small dogs but large dogs need the back seats down so that they have some space to move around. like the ones in notmyclubmans picture.

To notmyclubman - I do not see the type of Dog Barrier that clintb is talking about in your car, as i see no bars that go across the car to block the dogs from getting to the front of the car. but maybe i am just not seeing them. if you have a barrier can you take a picture of it without the dogs in the car.

To Scooter09 - It sounds to me like you are talking about the floor mat and goes down to help keep the dog fur off the carpet and sides of the car. Or are you actually talking about a physical vertical barrier to keep the dogs from going to the front of the car. If so the could you please post a picture of it as I have never seen one with checks on it.

clintb - The link below may also be of interest to you as it actually is desinged by MINI for the clubman and is for placement just behind the front seat but in front of the rear seats. sot he seats can be folded down for more room for the dogs.

Unfrotunately the cost is rather high at about $650 for parts and then you need to have it installed as well as the headliner would need to be replaced.

If you have any other questions on this item i can try and help you. but I am not sure that it has ever been sold to a customer in the USA.

Thanks for all of the advice. I did end up getting the Travall Dog Guard...YES the shipping was HALF the price of the Guard itself (but not having to listen to my wife complain about using her car to take the dog to the vet was WELL worth the price =) True, it does not allow you to keep it intact with the seats down but it does seem to be built very well and attaches and can be removed rather easily.

I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. I've been trying to find a good kit for separating the back with the rear seats down... so with the barrier right behind the front seats. I think I'm going to just have to make a custom solution. The MINI kit is overpriced and what annoys me the most is that the net only have about 60% centered coverage. I may just order the mounting brackets (install the lower ones towards the outer area) and then find a better fitting aftermarket cargo net.

Ah, misunderstood. I wasn't thinking about a divider when I read pet barrier; I also didn't look to see what the pet barrier in question was. However, it may not be a cage, but the MINI pet liner does a great job of keeping my dogs in the back. They really like to lay in the sagging part between the front seat backs and the rear seats.

It's taken me a while to post this picture, Life has been crazy the last few weeks. Here is the mini dog guard in the back of our clubman with the dogs. Its stood up to 4years of abuse well. My only complaint is the suction cups, have to clean them every couple of months to ensure they stay put on the windows.
