A question for those with a sunroof.

Look at the back section of your sunroof -- how far does the glass part stick up along the edges from the roof? I'm asking this because of what I'm going through with my dealer who is telling me that the way I wanted it fixed is not within factory spec. The new MINIs I looked at there all had the rear part almost flush with the roof.

Can u take a picture of yours and post it so we can compare it? I will do the same with mine as soon as I know exactly what your looking at. I'm confused.

Here are two pics of what I think your talking about. Sorry, my car isn't so clean. The glass is level and felt around it is raised a bit.

That's the rear portion of the sunroof, right? And yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about -- thanks!

Roof

Just checked mine, same. The felt is slightly raised and the glass is flush with it all the way around.

Regards,

Larry

Mine is a tad lower than the roof, maybe 1/8 of an inch. My dealer says it's normal, but not when I compare it to new ones on the lot

So you're having the same situation with your dealer that I'm having with mine. Man, I just don't get it.

My sunroof started off below the level of the body...After it was adjusted it is now flush or just above the body.

But what I would really focus on is performance not just look of it. If you don't have leaking, wind noise, clunking and squeaking, or getting stuck in the hot sun, I would NOT let them touch it! I have been having all of those issues (not leaking) since it was adjusted. Leave it alone if the roof is working good for you.

I have a 2010 and the sunroof along the back is slightly above the roofline. About 1/16-1/8"

We have had a HUGE amount of rain lately and through the rain and washings, no leaks, squeaks or sticking.

If it Leaks...get it fixed!

If it is NOT leaking...it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

Mine's also about 1/8" below the roofline at the very back edge of the glass. Based on these comments, I'll just leave it alone, since there are no noise or leak issues...

Too late, I already had them adjust it. So far it's fine, no more wind noise or anything. It's still within "factory spec" but is no longer higher on the left side than the right (if you're looking at the sunroof from behind the car).

Headlands, I would take Slimjim's advice seriously. I wouldn't want MINI to goof and make a small nitpick ten times worse! If you don't have any leaks, it's probably a much better idea to leave it alone. I've got that stupid droopy power window problem to worry about. It did it yesterday again! Took two tries to fix it.
