Looking for my clubman..

I am starting to dream about my new horizon blue MCSC with all the fixing.

But after 8 weeks on order, its still at "en route" to distribution center. It's been "en route' for week and half. I was told at dealer that it should be 4 to 6, so after 8 weeks I am little frustrated. I want so bad to be able to start posting all the fun stuff about my new mini, but alas...

Any guess on when I should see it at dealer? I live in washington, dc.

Also, anyone know if my $1000 deposit is refundable. I really want to keep the mini I ordered, but before I go into final negotiations on my trade in value, I want to know that they can't back me into corner and reduce trade in value just because I have a few more miles on my car now that its taken so long to get the clubby in. They gave me written quote but it states changes in car mileage and condition can change the value. Of course this position is a little easier to take as I know of a horizon blue mini now sitting at another dealer pretty close by that although doesnt have my leather seats, comes very close to my needs.

Just dont know how much I longer I can wait. It even worse than an itch you cant scratch. Damn I want my clubby now!

Not sure about the deposit being refundable. I'd almost bet it won't be. At least not all of it. Not sure what your rights are here in VA.

I will tell ya that if Horizon Blue was an option when I bought our Clubman, mine wouldn't be Laser Blue. Horizon Blue (HB) looks great on a Cubbie. I saw one drive by my shop today. Nice.

On a related note, when you get it, make sure to hook up with the DC Metro MINI group. They're great to hang with. Also, if ya get down to the Hampton Roads area, check us out at www.HRMINI.com

My contract said, "Deposit nonrefundable." Your state law may have a say in the matter as well.

The MINI Lounge was always about a week behind and sometimes longer as far as where it said my Clubbie was in the process. From the day the ship docked in NYC to the day I picked it up was almost two weeks. A lot takes place from the ship, to the VDC and all they do, the transportation from the VDC to your dealer in DC and then all the stuff your dealer will do to your car as well.

Are you tracking your ship yourself? Can you call your dealer and ask? I did both and found it to be a big help with the waiting...and waiting...and...

This is ONLY A GUESS but if the lounge still says "en route" and your car is in fact still on the ship then you are looking at 2-3 weeks minimum before you can actually drive away with it.

Good luck!

I'm betting the trade in disclaimer is if you put 5 thousand miles and wrecked it , to cover their butts ...
If you drive normally I'm sure they'd expected 1000 miles a month +/-

Waiting times can vary greatly depending on the order date. BUt as a rule of thumb as jbrowland said the owners lounge is more than a week behind on its updates.

Now just to let you know some of the things that can hold it up.

1. Bad weather in transit on the boat. Boats slow down in really bad weather.

2. VDC (vehicle distribution center) is behind schedule

3. Trucking from VDC is slowed because of weather.

These are just some of the things that can slow your car down from getting to you. You can all MINI USA and give them the last 7 digits of the VIN number and they can tell you where it is. If you do not have the VIN Number the Dealer should be able to give it to you.

And just to let you know I had my car in my possession before the car came out of "En Route" on the owners lounge.

Waiting for my Clubman just finished production today.

For the deposit, I asked what if I lose my job? Not refundable....
Then he volunteered to reduce the deposit to $500.00 instead of $1K.
I thought it was quite odd that the dealer did not ask me for the slightest bit of credit information or even if I had a job.... Just took my deposit and ordered the car.

My dealer would not even take a trade-in unless it was a MINI or BMW. He said I could leave my car with them and they would call one of their buyers to come and make a bid. I would have to take whatever the buyer offered independent of the new car deal. In my case it would have been after the fact because I am 200 miles away from my dealer.

I sold the car, (98 Civic) myself in 1 day on CL for probably 3x what the buyer would have given me.

Note that mileage does not change the value that much. Go to http://www.kbb.com and run your car with current mileage and then run again with more or less and see what results you get.

My Clubman Finished Production on 12-23-09, Left the port on 1-1-1020, Arrived Port Charleston SC on 1-10-2010 and was delivered to the dealer TODAY 1-15-2010. If that gives you any clue on the time frame.

Call your MA at your dealership, they are the ONLY ones that can give you information at this point. Once the car leaves the factory and arrives at it's destination port, MINIUSA is out of the loop. It is now up to your dealer as for What ship, when it arrives at port and when it gets to the VDC.

And yes, the Owners lounge is usually days behind.

Thanks for all the info,

Guess I just unlucky. I ordered my clubby two weeks before Slim Jim and he got his. I would think they would have been on the boat together. Just seems odd.

I did check the form I signed and it doesnt say anything about deposit being refundable or not refundable. But that really not an avenue I want to take as I really want the mini I ordered.

Just wishing it had taken the 4 to 6 weeks I was told. If I had been told 10 to 11 weeks at least I would have been surprised if it arrived early versus being disappointed its late.

Oh well,

I ordered at dealer on 12/10/09. Got MINI confirmation letter on 12/15/09. Finished production on 1/14/10. Now waiting for boat.
I was told expect middle of Feb to beginning of March. 10-12 weeks. They said Clubman takes 2 or 3 weeks longer than a regular MINI as they don't make as many and schedule them in batches.
I am in Pacific NW so it may take longer as the boat docs in LA then the car is trucked up to Portland OR.
My purchase order does say deposit not refundable.

It has a lot to do with whether your dealer can sneak your car in by replacing a STOCK car they ordered. That is what my dealer did for me and it just so happened the car they replaced was just about to go into production...good timing. They immediately put the car on Priority 1, which means it is a SOLD customer car and it gets priority at the VDC and from VDC to Dealer.

Even though you ordered 2 weaks prior to me, I would bet i got well ahead of you in production due to the dealer swap.
