Questions for Clubman Owners

Does the Clubman have seating for 2 or 3 in the back? Also, is there more knee room compared to the coupe or is the car just longer due to the larger trunk?

Thank You

US model? Seats two in the back and there is a lot more room for your legs.

Only room for two. 3 inches more knee room and while that doesn't sound like much it makes a huge dif for the back passengers. The boot/trunk is also another 8-9 inches long as well and also makes a huge dif compared to the MINIscule boot in the standard MINI. Of course, the club door (Clubman 3rd door) also helps a bit if you regularly have back seat passengers or kids/child seats etc...

There is decent room in the back of a Clubman, The daughter 16 years old and I rode in the back from SE VA to Charlotte. That's about 6+ hours. I'm 5'10" and fit comfortably. It wasn't as big as our F250 4 dr Super Duty, but peasily enough room. Unless, someone is overly large or tall, they'd fit fine. And like mentioned before, only two belts, however, I do believe the UK models do have belts for three including a headrest in the middle of the rear seat. Looks kinda funky.

With the car being only 9 inches longer than the coop and 3 inches of extra leg room in the rear seats means there is only 6 inches of extra room in the trunk area. Now it looks like a lot more because it is almost double the size but it really is only about 6 inches longer in the trunk.

So I was off by 2 inches Yes, 3 inches more leg room and 6 inches more in the boot. 9 total.

MUCH more comfortable for the backseat passenger in the Clubman vs. the coupe. I know from riding in both - clearly I chose to buy the Clubman for this very reason.

I moved from a 1st Gen Coupe to a 2nd Gen Clubman, so the back seat space is mind blowing The Clubdoor makes it easily accessible!

Another factor regarding back seat headroom versus non-Mini's is that the Clubman roofline doesn't restrict headroom like a sedan roofline might. For example, I occasionally ride in a 2004 VW Jetta backseat and it gets pretty uncomfortable....but when i ride in the back of the Clubman it's much better. The Clubman boot is pretty roomy compared to the Coupe for the same reason - the Coupe roof has much more rake to it that the Clubman's back end.

Thank You
A little Trivia for you.

In the USA and Canada you can only get the Clubman as a two seater in the rear. But in parts of Europe you can order it as a Three Seat Rear they mount a third Shoulder Belt from the ceiling of the car over the boot area.

It CAN NOT be ordered for the North American market though not even as parts. BMW/MINI will not ship the parts the USA.

One comment about riding in the backseat of either the Clubman or the Coupe...

To me a sunroof makes a HUGE difference! The extra light keeps one from feeling claustrophobic.
