Allow myself to introduce... myself

Just wanted to say hello from Brooklyn. Loving my new 2009 MCCS. It's great to be back driving a stick (I learned to drive in England on a stick, but have driven automatics since I've been back in the US), and this car just constantly puts a smile on my face. I've noticed just from reading that there are quite a few people here from the NYC area, are there any meets or anything that I should know about?

Also, is it true that as long as you're mini is made after 3/09 then you are safe from the death rattle? I tried to read the thread in the known issues section, but 59 pages is a lot

You aren't kidding. Much like some areas of Brooklyn, the Sunnyside/Woodside area has experienced a people explosion in the last 5-10 years. There are about 5 new buildings within a block of mine just in the last few years. More people equals more cars! Luckily I pay someone to park in their driveway so I don't have to deal with street parking anymore.
Again, welcome to NAM and I hope to see you motoring about the big city! I'll keep an eye out for your BRG MCCs!
