R55 Reprogram the sunroof?
Reprogram the sunroof?
I was wondering if the sunroof can be "programmed" to open by simply pushing on the switch and releasing it. I have to hold it in position until it stops. My '00 Intrepid did this btw. Anyone out there know if it can be done?

I'm betting the retraction and closing are fully manual for safety reasons.
As Alphawave said Safety may very well be part of the issue.
Here is one good reason why. But be fore warned the out come is rather disturbing. My feeling is that no animal was actually harmed in the making of this video (no blood seen, but for the weak of heart shut it down if you believe you understand the outcome.

I'm not sure if you misread my post. I have tried exactly that. To OPEN the sunroof, I have to HOLD the switch. I find this very annoying because the times I want to open it are when the car is moving. With my previous car, I just hit the button once and I don't even have to take my eyes off the road. I don't understand why MINI didn't program theirs the same way.
So which Open do you want? Both tilted OPEN or front retracted over back OPEN.
In my Clubbie,
1. One quick push "Opens" the sunroof to the "Both Tilted Up" position.
2. To get the front to slide over the back is another story, and that you must hold the switch for.
One single touch can only do one thing. So they elected to have it do the first (1)
And this can not be changed.
To do the second IMHO would be dangerous and be a safety hazard and that is probably the thinking at Mini/BMW. My 5 series does exactly the same thing in exactly the same manner.

You can almost hear PETA whining about it now!
I know a few cats in the neighborhood I'd offer to audition in a starring roll.
(Kidding- of course)
