Two ?'s Volume control on steering and Rattle in sunroof

The up volume control on the steering wheel does not work and the housing around the sunroof control rattles quite a bit. And ideas on how to fix either of these issues. I just bought the mini two days ago and want to start fixing the small things for now. TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the sunroof rattle, see if this thread here on NAM may help. Good solution at post #4 if the flaps are your source of the rattle as well.

The left switch is #2 61316800898 here and the one on the right is #3 61316800897 here. I have seen sometimes where those switches get gummy/dirty, so maybe try cleaning it if it looks like that may be the case.

If you want to get the switches off and do it that way, then you'd have to remove the airbag. I'm not sure what the issue could be, could be dirty or you may need to replace it. Not sure how helpful this thread here will be, but this person had issues with one side not working properly. We have a DIY here for changing the 2 spoke to a 3 spoke, but it goes over how to remove the airbag. You'll stop at figure 6. Then you remove the switch mounting screws from the back of the steering wheel (image below) for the multi function switches or covers and then use a plastic prying tool to help you separate it from the housing. After, unhook the switch assembly wire harness from the steering wheel and you should then be able to remove the switches. The MFL wheel does have another connector to remove.

I see the three spoke has more functions on the steering wheel. Are some of those Like phone and bluetooth not going to function with the upgrade?

Supposing that you already have the 2-spoke wheel with radio controls, you're asking about "upgrading" to the 3-spoke? That wheel (and buttons) would be a plug-n-play for the factory OEM head unit. That said, those two extra buttons on the 3-spoke wheel are kind of obsolete. The phone button was used for some kind of Bluetooth option (though few people got the option) and the R/T button simply paused or muted the OEM factory radio. I don't know of anyone who's said they're using those buttons these days.

If you were to go aftermarket head unit, you'd need a MFSW button adapter/interface module: PAC SWI or Axxess ASWC adapter. Someone said they got the R/T button programmed with the Axxess, but I absolutely do NOT recommend the PAC SWI.

You're welcome. Some good info above and hopefully you're able to get your volume buttons figured out.
