Expected differences between 2009 & 2010 Clubman?
Does anyone know what, if any, changes are to be made from the 2009 Clubman to the 2010 Clubman? (And I am definitely NOT talking about the Crossover - ugh!).
I have a '04 BGR MC. Hands down: Best car I ever had. Then, in July, we purchased a '08 MC white/black with all options except navigation. We had to quickly get another car (thus no time to wait on a Clubman) because our daughter drives to school and our schedules could no longer accommodate getting her to functions when we work - thus 3 cars now. However, little things with my new '08 make me believe quality control is not what it was in 2004.
I still want the Clubman - will be trading in the '08 MC. But a few posts seem to say that what I've found with my '08 MC - quality control at the factory is not up to standards for an expensive ($36K+ auto.)
Any thoughts?
More importantly - What improvements or changes expected to the 2010 Clubman?

2010 will probably be the year of the mid-cycle refresh. The timing is right because the R56 was introduced in 2007 and this would fit the typical update schedule. Most changes should apply to both the R56 and Clubman.
The 2005 refresh for the 1st gen included quite a few changes, some major. For the R50, manual transmission was changed to Getrag and bumpers were redesigned. The R53 received optional LSD for the first time. There were numerous small changes throughout the car, inside and out.

A little
for this thread, but I'll just go ahead and answer here, maybe others have experienced some of the same issues.
The wipers, particularly on the drivers side -were replaced at one month because they would not clear the windshield, leaving wide smears that were difficult to see through. Eventually, when then next problem occurred and I brought it in, they agreed it replacing the wipers did not seem to improve visibility, so they replaced the entire wiper arm. Somewhat better, but it still leaves wipe streaks of water. Although the service dept agrees it is nowhere clear as it should be, they are stumped at what else to do. Minor issue - but odd that they cannot fix it.
At two months old - (~ 3K miles) the engine was knocking and leaving water and oil pooled in the garage.
First, they found the oil leak under the engine intake vanos solenoid was leaking at electrical connection. The passenger side was covered in oil. They replaced the intake vanos solenoid. Replaced the oil lost.
When they were finishing, the engine began making the knocking and flap-flap-flap noise that I'd been hearing. They determined it was the drive wheel for the water pump pulley and had a flat spot on it. They replaced the drive wheel/tensioner for water pump /water pump pulley. Eventually over the next two days, they found they also needed to replace the water pump.
It solved the problem for the leak and the noise of flap-flap-flap when the engine idled.
Currently, the gas gauge does not work properly. It will show full when I fill up. Sometime over the next 275 - 300 miles it will only go down to 8 bars. Then suddenly, when I reach ~ 400 miles, it will fall immediately to 2 bars, RED, and I get the gas signal to fill up on my computer board. So, unless I keep an eye on the exact miles, and ALWAYS remember to send the tachometer back to zero at every fill up, I have no real way of knowing how much gas I have.
Not much of a problem in the city, but I could see on a trip it could cause issues.
The blower will not blow hot/warm air unless it is running at full blast. Even then, once it is warm, and I reduce the blower to a lower speed, it falls back to cool/cold air. And so the list continues, with other small rattles and issues that I never - and still don't experience with my 2004 MC.

I was leaving a meeting at our Darling Ave location heading back to The Big House and saw it go by on Foden Rd. as I was waiting at the stop sign.
Nice cah!

I'm not too sure I'd count on any refreshments of The Clubman coming too soon. With the economic challenges for the world, the auto industry - and yes, even with our beloved MINIs...it might not be the time to make changes. Here's an interesting bit from Motoringfile, where you can find more recent articles, as well: MINI Shutting Down Production for December: http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/11/...-for-december/
I probably wasn't even in it when you saw it. My wife was coming to pick me up after picking up a few groceries. Funny that you made the connection though.
I would expect to see very few changes that are Clubman-specific. However, I do expect the R56 to be refreshed in 2010, and anything that changes in the R56 will affect the Clubman (they use the same parts). For example, a lot of people are hoping that the R56 refresh will include a redesigned center console. If that happens, it would also change in the Clubman (and the R57 cabrio).
OMG, I am turning into a MINI stalker!

I only see them sporadically around SoPo, but a couple weeks ago we had guests and went into Old Port and I must've seen at least 10 Minis in the couple hours we were there.
I want my own Mini already!
No one knows, but we can all have fun guessing. I've heard that MINI is working on a "Mr. Fusion" option for 2010. Throw in a banana peel and half a can of Pepsi, and you're good for the first 50,000 miles.
Gah, is that ever true. When I bought my Passat, VW had three shades of grey and one silver.
Yes, MINIs tend to hang out at the cooler places, so obviously you'll see them in the Old Port or in my garage.
