R55 Signatures under the bonnet?
Signatures under the bonnet?
I saw in another thread that harold47 was inquiring about how to preserve the signatures under the bonnet; how does one go about requesting such a thing? Or was that just a very special thing for a very special MINI owner? (Of course, we're ALL special.
) Having the team who brought your MINI to life sign their work is a fantastic thing. Also, harold47 in another thread said that due to the signatures, there was no bonnet liner. My Clubman is "on order" and not in production as yet; it is an S, so if requesting signatures, if that is even possible, would negate having a bonnet liner; I guess that's a deal-breaker - the heat from the turbo certainly warrants a liner.
was a special thing, every time I look at the car, I open the hood and just feel good, and so happy and respectful for those who took the time to do this wonderful thing.
I sprayed several coats of clear hi heat enamel over the signatures to keep them from fading or being effected by the engine heat.
don't miss the liner, but she's not an MCS.

Harold47: That is beyond cool - I just love it that you get to drive around with all of that pride in a job well-done under the bonnet lid! I think it's wonderful that your MINI gets to keep such a tangible link with the individuals who put their skills and talents into the creation - it's not just knowing that "people" in Oxford worked on a car; it was Chris and Bill and Steve etc. who made YOUR car. That's what is so personal and special; which is why I found this so attractive and posted about it.
RaceFace: Is that o.k. for a turbo, not having a bonnet liner? Maybe I'm misinformed; we've had a couple of turbo vehicles in the past, and they had some sort of special protection under their hoods to cope with the heat.

I know the turbo heats it up....we'll see if the paint holds up
In harold47's first post in the thread he said his was not a MCS, and doesn't have the turbo - so it won't be subject to turbo heat. Does anyone know if non-S models come standard without a liner?
Haven't had any heat problems. Put several coats of clear engine block- Hi Heat enamel- over the sigs.
