Noise when I open the door? What is that?

I wasn't sure where exactly to post this b/c I'm not sure if it happens in tin tops, or just cabrios...

When I open either door, there's some electrical/mechanical type noise coming from the passenger floor area-ish. Originally I thought it was maybe the CD player (like if it were moving the laser to read a disc..) but I think it's lower and more on the passenger side...

Has anyone ever heard this noise & can tell me what the heck it is?

Its the actuator for the vent doors closing on your climate control, you can hear it in the passenger foot well. Don't worry it happen on all MINI's

I believe it's the forward facing photon torpedo tubes coming on-line. Mine does it as well.

lol Thanks guys :-) I was wondering for a second (cause I was puttin in the lights, parcel tray, etc - and was opening/closing the doors, turning on/off the lights & each time, that noise would 'appear'! I started to get a little concerned that maybe it'd drain the battery or something silly like that!

Nah. Photon torpedoes only draw 1.21 gigawatts per projectile... well within posted limits.

Happy motoring!

But... it can't be that... the only thing that produces 1.21 jigawatts is a bolt of lightning...

Just make sure the flux capacitor is wired properly and you'll be fine.
