I'm putting together a build sheet for a '16 fJCW R60 and there doesn't appear to be an option for the garage door opener (even if you select the compass mirror). The sales manager at my local dealership is telling me the option has been discontinued across the board (all models), and my MA is too new to even know what I'm talking about.

Any help would be appreciated.

It was discontinued for 2016 going forward. Although some people have still been getting one, I guess what they have left in stock at the factory?
I'd ask the sales manager to put the code in to see what they get. As I recall the option number was 319.

Wow....what a smart decision to completely discontinue a very valuable, convenient feature. A $42K vehicle that doesn't have a garage door opener as an option. Awesome.....

My friend ordered her F55S before me but didn't realize she had to alert her MA that she wanted the garage door opener. She was shocked when she got the car to realize it wasn't part of the auto dimming mirror. (It used to be part of the convenience package as I recall)
Anyway she ended up getting the thing that motorcycle folks use installed. You flash your headlights twice and it opens/closes the door. I actually like hers better as the reception seems to be better and she can open her door from further away. It also has the option for multiple cars and multiple doors so she ended up liking it better and it was cheaper. She can also operate it from her cell phone which was handy when she had a loaner car.
Oh, and a side note. The visors on the F series MINIs have way more padding so clipping a standard garage door opener is a problem. It really is so thick that the clips start to damage the visor right away. Same for sunglass holders, grrr.

I am surprised they removed the garage door opener option. I was just looking back at my 2014 R60 JCW build order back in 2013.

The universal garage door opener was an additional $250 option, the mirror compass was an additional $100 option =, and the auto dimming rearview mirror was part of the City Pack package which also included the Comfort Access.

 

You can still get the part, but my guess the power additional power wire might be gone, you could always mod it.
