Sunnie is Staying! Maybe!

As some of you may know, hubby & I were considering a Clubman. And much to my dismay (and it was winter also) my Cabrio was to be sacrificed Not his 03 Cooper

Well, we've decided to wait Spring has sprung I'm topless once again & all is well with the world So I will remain your topless moderator & sport my sunburn with pride

I wonder if they will ever make the Clubman topless.........

Yay for keeping the cabrio! Would you really enjoy the warm weather as much with a tin top over your head?

I need advice, fellow topless motorers

Last week before the Dragon, Sunnie's a/c stopped working, the drivers window has been shuddering & the new trailing arms were creaking again She went to the dealer on Monday. She is still there The a/c is fixed(valve on high side), her window & motor has been replaced & the trailing arms have been greased. However, the service advisor called & said she needs ANOTHER body control module(new one put in last Fall) They could not program many items & decided it had failed AGAIN. I think I have a lemon Her warranty is up in October. And I won't even elaborate on the 3 new tops, 3 sets of rear windows, new clutch, new battery & new sunroof mechanism

Should I bail & get that Clubman?

Lois

Oh that's a tough choice! It really depends on how much you LOVE having a Cabrio. When I sold mine, I missed it a bit, but then again, I replaced it with something that I had always wanted - a Woodie. Then we decided that we wanted the Clubman to replace Mike's MCS - so....wow - I don't know if I can help ya or not....I know you love Sunnie - the question is - CAN you give her up and how badly do you want a Clubman? Or can you keep Sunnie AND get the Clubman?

My 08 MCSC is my second convertible now (previous was an Audi TT), and I don't think I could go back to having a top. I enjoy opening it up and taking in the sun. It even makes the lousy Washington DC traffic bearable. When I'm in stop and go traffic on the highway for 1/2 hour, I just open the top and look at the trees and birds!

So, unless you think you'd be ok with a hard-top, I'd trade (or resell) this one and buy another Cabrio! If your hubby really wants a clubman, I'd trade in his tin-top. After all, they're both tin-tops, so what's the difference?

HTH,
Ivan

Lois... I know we talked about this at the Dragon... but after all of that, it sounds to me like you're ready to let Sunnie go if you're afraid the issues will occur again (not like you can predict that...) and your warranty is going to run out, maybe a new Clubman is the way to go. or you can get the '09 Cabrio

Keep us posted

And she's still at the dealer They have installed the new body control module & that has not solved the programming problem. So she's sitting there gathering dust while the master techs try to figure out what is going on

In the meantime, I'm getting very attached to the MCS Didn't know a MINI could have THAT much zip

Different tasts , I'd go for a '08 convert while I still could vs a '09...

I considered ordering a identical car to my '05 before they change the convert to the R57 just to set the mileage and warranty to zero. I figured it was my last chance since I wouldn't buy the R57. But didn't make economic sense and my car's been pretty trouble free (knock on wood).
