Homemade Washer Fluid Recipes?

My parents bought me a 07 MCSC for my 16th birthday , but I'm responsible for gas, insurance, and maitanence !!! My Wal-Mart job isn't paying that well and so I need to be frugal in some places. Do you guys have a winshield washer fluid recipe that is not corrosive to the hoses?

It's sort of hard to economize on washer fluid when it's $.99 a gallon at the gas station, and a gallon is probably a year's supply, easy.

When you break down all the "per-mile" costs of owning/operating a vehicle, the biggest one that you have any control over is fuel. Drive conservatively, consolidate errands as much as you can, and keep your car in good mechanical shape.

Just buy the 20/20 concentrate and use 1/2 to 1/4 of the recommended amount with the water. Been doing it for years.

My suggestion is to try and turn this into a positive thing.
If you are really looking for some extra cash in your pocket, why not try something like indentured servitude? Maybe long hours and non-existent wages aren't your thing, has pimping come into your mind as a way to make some extra scratch? You start with just a few girls at first, and you work your way up. Hell, I bet if you kept at it, you might make enough $$ to buy 2 gallons of washer fluid.

I use deionized water - no spots.

Probably just different cleaning styles. I clean the exterior windows by hand a few times a week, so I don't use the car's windshield washer very often.

But I realize that the money I'm saving by not using up my $0.99/gallon washer fluid is more than offset by what I'm spending in glass cleaner at $35/gallon.

Probably has more to do with the fact that I wash my car about twice a month, so it typically takes half a bottle of washer fluid to clean a weeks worth of crud off the windshield before driving .

I also hate using the windshield washers because I know it means that dirty water is going to be streaming over the A-pillar covers, the cowl panel, the A-panels, and the front windows.

If it's raining out, that's a different matter, since I know I'll be washing the car soon anyway, but if the car's clean except for some bug guts/dust on the windshield, I'll actually pull off the road and clean the windshield by hand just to keep the rest of the car from getting trashed by the dirty-washer-fluid runoff.

You're kidding me, right?

I understand you're 16 but you're trying to save money on the entire dollar or two you might use in an entire year by saving on windshield washer fluid????

The OP started this thread and another similar thread within a few minutes of each other and hasn't posted again since. I think the general consensus is that's he's a troll.

I don't doubt that... I just couldn't resist saying something.
