Driving with power steering removed?

Anyone have any thoughts on driving with no power steering pump installed?

the remanufactured power steering pump I installed in June is dead. Napa gave me a lifetime warranty so I've got a new one on order but it will be at least four business days.
Will it destroy my rack if I remove the pump and drive around like that? I'm assuming the fluid lubricates the rack and driving it around with no pump is a bad idea.

If you ever drove a car with manual steering, apply 5 times worse and you have your answer. If you read the Condor thread, I've tried it myself before they made the kit and it's not something I'd drive on a daily basis. It pretty much remove the go-kart feeling as the effort is too much to enjoy the car.

You have to remember that the gearing inside the steering rack was designed with the pump in mind. If the rack was properly geared for a manual setup, it wouldn't be as bad. It can work as a temporary solution, or if you're masochist.

The steering shaft u-joints are weak in these cars with working power steering.
