R50/53 A couple of NOOB questions
A couple of NOOB questions
I took possession of my 06 MCS (again) today. Now I have a couple questions:
According to the manual, if I hold the unlock button down on the key, the windows will roll down by themselves. This isn't happening. Is that something the dealer has to program?
I have the "sport" steering wheel. I am a commuter, so I have two sets of radio stations I want to program into the stereo (fm1&2),so I did that. But when I use the steering wheel channel changing button, if I get to the 6th station on FM1, if I hit it again, it goes to FM2. Since I am programming for two metropolitan areas, having the radio go to FM2 doesn't do me any good, I want it to just roll back to the 1st station on FM1...does that make sense? Anyone else experience this? How can this be overcome?
Finally, my car has a couple small spots where the paint has "gone missing"...like chipped away or something. They are small, but they are (of course) noticeable to me. Do you recommend taking it to a dealer for touching up or do they have touch up paint they can sell? Curious about what to do (mostly to satisfy myself, and make the car "perfect"
Thanks,
dave

windows and radio
windows:
hit it one time unlocks the driver
hit it again the passenger door unlocks
hit it 3rd time and hold it windows drop ( this is if it has been programed at the dealer)
radio: my suggestion is set fm 2 just like you set fm 1 that way it will cycle through

IIRC, here's the trick. Leave FM2 stations on the defaults; pressing the arrows (to step through them) will skip them (so it stays on FM1). As for the stations for the other area, put them on FMA. The step function will not jump between FM1/FM2 and FMA. Clear?
Thanks all....I'll try the window trick later and see how that goes; and yes, Sin Mini, that is a clear plan. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. BTW, did you see my post in detailing 101? (I've just hijacked my own question!)
:back on topic: (LOL)
On the remote - having the windows go down while pressing the button on the remote is a great trick for friends to see. It's not as great when you put the key fob in an overcrowded pocket or purse... and it's raining...
I had my dealer program that OUT of mine, and don't miss it in the least. It's easier and faster to stick the key in and turn it to close the roof and windows.
Paint = see dealer. Worst comes to worst get a can of touch-up paint if it's clearly leading-edge stone chips.

Nothing to add, I just want to help Dixon get this thread back on topic.
Ok, I lied. I do have something to add.
If you need more than six presets, I would suggest getting an Aux Input and an Ipod (or other MP3 player.)

I thought the up and down arrows cycle thru FM 1 and FM 2 as well as FMA. Just have toget used to using the down button as well as the up button to go where you want. Guess you could program nothing into 2 and A so it rolls back to 1.

I have to say, I've never accidentally dropped the windows before due to my keys being in my pocket. I don't even think I've gotten the passenger door unlocked with accidental presses in my pocket.
