I have changed my mind AGAIN!!

I wanna wait for a 04 model, but i'm worry about couple of things.

DO I really have to order now?
If I order it later, Is there a possibility or risk of waiting for a long time?

Can I order a 04 Model now?
Is it a real order or just dealership hold your order until august and then place it?

The dealership have told me i can get the production number right away, if i order now. is that work for 04 model too?

i have a feeling the dealer would have to hold the order until they started taking orders for 2004 models. right now you dont know if theyre gonna raise the price at all or change something drastically.. which wouldnt keep you from changing your order but it might make you not want a mc? i dunno maybe.. i dont think theres any harm to doing it now
i dont think many people will be ordering 04's now... so your wait shouldnt be longer.
i might be totally wrong so you should talk to your motoring advisor about this.

Why get a 2004 when you can wait for the 2005?

There will always be a "next year's" model. Sooner or later you have to decide if you want to stay on the sidelines waiting, or jump in and join the fun. Besides, what are you waiting for? an extra power port? another color to choose from? the ugly 3-spoke steering wheel?

If you've finally made it to the front of the line, I say order it and start motoring. Who cares what model year it is.

Just my $0.02

Cheers,

James

If you get a production # now you will not have an 04 they will not be produced until I believe 10/1 might be 9/1 but I think 10/1

Is there a picture of this wheel someplace?

I'd say get on the list before Italian Job hits theatres. Who knows what that'll do to the waiting list.

It's like everything else in life. Wait for something better to come out and wait for something beter to come and wait for something better to come out, ad infinitum. If you like what you see, get it, enjoy it and move on. By the time the 04's begin arriving you'll be foaming for all the new features of the '05's.

I have a 2004 MCS on order. I ordered it at the end of January with a scheduled October delivery date. My dealer had at the time a 7 month wait for a 2003 MCS and 10 month wait for a '04 MCS. decided to wait the extra 3 months and get the '04 instead. Since I don't need the the car right away and can afford to wait practically a year for it (Now the countdown is 6 months and going) I decided, what the heck, get the '04 instead in hopes that the build quality and some of the current MCS issues will be ironed by then.

The new model year starts Sptember 1st, 2003 at the Oxford, UK plant. So if you want a 2003 MCS you have to get an August '03 build instead.

2004 model year prices and equipment changes will be announced in August by MINIUSA.

Lets try to address your questions.
You have changed your mind again. This means you are undecided. Ask yourself what reasons do you have to buy the 2003 model soon vs. why would you want to wait. A feature or color you cannot get now or is it that you want to get to use the car for the whole year plus some months. That is, if you order it soon and they build it in 10/03 then you can maybe get it delivered to you by the end of 2003 and you can use it longer as a 2004 model. Otherwise if you order the 2003 now you get it in 4 or 5 months which would be the end of 2003 and soon the new models will come out with something better or your value drops due to being a 2003 model. What is "your" reason for waiting.

You want to wait for 2004 model. You have concerns.

Do you really have to order now? No. not really. Depends on the dealer and how long the line is in front of you for the 2004 models. Are they taking 2004 model pre-0rders now? They cannot actually place the orders until the factory tells them to send the orders in. Right now and for the next 5 or 6 more months the factory will accept and build only 2003 models. Here is an example. My MCS was built in 10/02 and became available for sale at my dealer for the first time on 2/09/03. Other MCS owners that got delivery of cars at the same time I got my car had placed orders as early as august or as late as november of 2002. We all got our cars that same week. It is variable due to the options you seek and the line of people in front of you ordering the same item. The dealership is allocated only a small amount of cars each month, it is not limitless. Therefore a busy dealership cannot place all of their possible orders due to the limited number of orders the factory will accept from any dealership in a given month. Sometimes in addition to the ordered cars the factory will also send additional cars for the dealer to sell but the dealer has no say as to the options or color of the car or it's model.

If you order later will there be delays? Maybe, depends on the demand of the 2004 models at the time you are placing orders. If in Sept 2003 you and 50 other people decide it is a good time to place orders for MCS only then there will be a very long wait to place your order. Because the dealership will place all of the orders for the same model in a que you will be in a line and have to wait a turn, if you want the car you will have to stand in line. Unless you want to buy a car that is in stock but maybe not quite with the color or options that suits all your needs. Your choice.

Can you order an o4 model now? Yes but you need to ask your dealer if they are merely placing you on a list which they will use later to place the actual orders when the factory takes the first orders for 04 models- like you say maybe in August or later. So you are merely getting in line to place an order for an 04. You are not actually placing the exact order now. It is simply too early (that's why you should buy an 03 model). Or you can wait until the right time. So I doubt that your dealer is making a real order now. They are putting you on a list so that they can place the order later when they will be allowed to order. Remember if there are people in line for an 04 model ahead of you at any time then you will have to wait. If you are early in this line to order 04 models then your wait will be a little less long.-Assuming you dealer is honest with you. So the dealer is likely holding your order and waiting until the right time later to place the order. The factory will tell the dealer when the right time is.

If you order now, you will get a production number for an 03 model. To get a production number for an 04 model you will have to wait until august or later. I hope that clearly addresses your concerns.

Aloha,
Brad
