No more parcel shelf?

I got an e-mail this morning from OutMotoring - it seems that the Euro Parcel Shelf is no longer available for sale in the US...

WTF?

Is this because of some obscure law preventing american small car owners from having a place to stash their stuff?

I'm assuming that it's still available in Europe - does anyone know of an overseas vendor that will ship to the US? I've been looking forward to this mod ever since Junior arrived - I was more than a bit dissappointed to get the sad news this morning...

If you find a place to pick one up, let me know - I'd be happy to pay you to nab one for me at the same time...

It looks like a few vendors may still have inventory, wonder how long it will last?

Yep - there are a few vendors that still have inventory, but it won't last. We'll all have to start shopping at (gasp) *overseas* vendors...

Just like when we bought our MINIs...

While I like Moss about 90% of the time, they have a nasty habit of showing items for sale, that they do not have in stock. Usually there will be a backorder assigned for such items, but with the parcel shelf NLA, better have Moss physically check their shelf before ordering.

This should apply to ANY vendor claiming to have these shelves.

See Outmotoring's announcement in Vendor Announcements - then grab one quick if you can find it, because there aren't going to be anymore.

Another way around the parcel shelf, is to get an armrest with storage within, or just not keep so much junk in your Mini!

Can't live without it!

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now, and it has been a great alternative for storing things such as my wallet, cell phone, tin of mints etc. It looks nice as well, like the missing piece to the puzzle of the dash/cockpit area. I believe it is not offered in the US due to crash safety reasons, but I don't see the difference safety wise vs. the knee panel.

Get one while/if you still can!

Classic was the first place I called when I got the OutMotoring e-mail. No stock, product is discontinued.

MyMini was the cheapest place I found that I could verify actually HAD stock of the parcel shelf.

As others have suggested, at this point you're better off calling to make sure whatever vendor actually has them on hand.

I got the e-mail too.

Just called Moss and placed an order and they had stock. With Moss, if you order on-line you will never know the item is B/O untill your package arrives and the part you needed the most in marked B/O.
