I think I got the last one at MyMini

These may become a growth industry on e-bay!

I got mine about two months ago--just in time it seems.

So far, my best mod!

I guess with the new design coming out we can expect to see this kind of thing more and more as time goes by...
The parcel shelf is one of those mods that I had originally planned but never got around to. Mini had to go and force me to buy one. I got one of the few left at Mymini.com
Whew!

I heard that there seems to be a legal issue and no more are allowed to be imported. May or may not be true, it would be good to confirm this with any supplier from Europe to see if they are also being discontinued across the pond.

As for the attraction, it seems that this parcel mod is one of those that you have in your to do list, but just keeps getting bumped down everytime you have some $$ to spend, which you end up spending on something else. At least that was the case with me.

From the reaction, it seems there are many others like me.

From having had similar trays in other cars, it's just a junk attractor, and sometimes the junk winds up under the pedals because of enthusiastic driving.

But to each their own.

If what you heard is true, I wonder if the legal action could be due to the US crash safety standards that prevent it from being an option in the US. If that is the case, they may still be available across the pond even if they aren't available here.

Sure glad I picked one up from Outmotoring.com during their last sale a few weeks ago--was on the fence for years!

I think cooperspeed just sold out, I had it, then I didn't...

Ordered it from moss, $89 + $15 shipping... a bit steep, but if no one else has them what are you going to do?

MINIUSA might not import it into the USA anymore, but free enterprise will find a way. Maybe this is MINIUSA's way of saying that they want to get hundreds of complaints via email and/or a petition drive started up.

I got my parcel shelf when I bought my car, and it's great.

No one is getting them through aftermarket suppliers either. (As a rule now)

Why MINIUSA, why?

The parcel shelf is such a friendly little mod. I understand that European MINI dealers will still be carrying them, Europe anyone?

Petitioning to bring it back might work, remember how we got MINI to bring over the rear fog light option back in '03.

Before I had one in my car I had the same thought. although after doing it and putting some toolbox rubber matting it in, I'm not sure how I would live without it. I have my cell phone charger permanantly wired in there with an addin circuit, my garage door opener and my wallet in there everytime I'm in the car. Even under heavily spirited driving none of them pop out.

Really it was a big ergonomic change to the inside of my car because it freed up the center console and cup holders for change and other things.

stupid as it sounds it's a must have imo.

I'd hazard a guess that it doesn't comply with the safety regs here in the good old USA. Order one out of Jolly old England. No big deal really.

I have bought from these folks. Bet they can get you one.

Better get it out of Jolly Old Germany. They drive on the wrong side of the road in England so the shelf will be designed for the right side of the car. It'll be a mirror image of what you need.

Even if the useless knee bolster is mandated by a safety regulation, they don't apply to parts added by the owner. MINI can't sell the car with a 5 point racing harness, but we can surely add one. I bet the MINI was certified for USA crashworthiness with the useless bolster and they can't change anything in the passenger's immediate area without a costly re-test. I believe the parcel shelf is no more dangerous than the bolster since it is actually further from your legs. Just like the rearview camera for the nav system and power folding mirrors (offered in Europe but not the USA), these'll be imported by some savvy business person.
