Left foot rest too far away??

When I drive like I want to I can't come close to using the left foot rest.

Anybody else have this problem?

Any fixes?

Move your seat forward?

Seriously, if you can't get your foot on the dead pedal, how could you possibly press the clutch, brake and gas pedals all the way to the floor?

But if I'm way off base.....I've seen racers duct tape wooden blocks to the pedals (but that was with seats that are bolted to the floor with no adjustment)

1. NO THANKS

2. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC, THE LEFT FOOT REST IS ABOUT 2-3 INCHES FURTHER AWAY THAN THE GAS & BRAKE PEDALS

3. NO THANKS

Any real suggestions?

Little bit--I totally agree with you. The dead pedal in my Miata was just perfect. My new MCC (auto) pedal is way too far forward. I plan to remove it and place a 4 inch spacer under it. Only problem is the two bolts through the floor/firewall will then be too short to attach all. I'm looking for bolt extenders, something which will allow me to make them longer. Otherwise, it's glue, I guess.

I've noticed that most folks with automatics sit farther back that those with sticks. Yep have to get that clutch down on the floor to shift. I haven't looked, but I bet if you took a look at the dead peddle you'd find a way to space it out. Some spacers behind it may do the trick. Sorry I don't have an exact procedure for you.

Will something like this work to as bolt extenders?

McMaster Carr

and it was your fault for not presenting all the variables in your first post. Like that fact that you had an automatic (never understood why anyone would get a sports car with an automatic. That defeats the purpose to me).

Other than removing the foot rest cover and putting spacers underneath to build it up I have no other "real suggestions".

I'm in the same boat. MCSa. With the seat adjusted so the steering wheel is not in my chest, the dead pedal is too far away. The brake and gas pedal are just right.

Not yelling just looking for usable answers.

You should write to Mini and tell them how silly it is to make the automatic! Look at how much money they could save by deleting that production line!

It's also true that many folks (even at MINI dealers) do tend to start out w/ the seat way too far back. Again, the dead pedal is a very good reference point.

Now, in this case (an automatic), I've not seen anything offered by vendors to change the dead pedal positioning, although that sounds like a very needed item based on comments seen here.

Sorry, didn't even realize I had bumped the caps lock.

Let me know if you hear or think of anything.

The dead pedal position is determined by the fuse door against the side.

I have a really cool dead pedal extender in my car. puts the pedal right where it should be for a stick car.

I think seat position is the simplest change, but can understand that you can also get that perfect position (even more important when working the clutch) and not want to mess with it. I'd be all for seeing some DIY attmepts

I think the removing of the pedal, placing a block underneath replace the dead pedal intall with longer bolts and some matching carpet and it would look entirely stock to the untrained eye. Would be the best bet.

Anthoer option is get really heavy shoes and hang on to a pull-up bar until the legs strech out

Curious...why do you use the dead pedal? Or really, why is there even one? I've never used it and probably never will. VERY uncomfortable imo.

My 4 cents again. One-I use the pedal more as a "rest" position for the useless left foot in an automatic. Otherwise, one must tilt the foot sideways to relieve one's ankle. Two-I'm 5'8", an average height, and just do not want to be up so close to the air bag merely to reach the pedal. Three-A reasonable extension still allows access to the fuze box door. Four-while the McMaster-Carr catalogue extenders (SAE threads) are what's needed, I think we have metric bolts, don't we?
