Boot/bonnet warning light won't shut off!

ive already done a search on the forum and read a few posts about the same thing...ive tried some of the ideas with no luck..where is the boot latch sensor at? is my problem more likely to be the boot and not the bonnet?

my MCS is going to the dealer sometime next week to have a scratched window replaced and i might as well have this fixed also but i figured i would give it a shot first

it is more likely to be the boot. many of us have had our latches replaced under warranty.

My MINI was in and out of the dealership 3 times for this problem. They had to change sensors and harness as well. nothing worse than that warning flashing at ya. Hope they get yours the first time.

You can check the hood switch fairly easily to see if the clip is broken and come loose from the latch assembly. It's on the rear of the passenger side latch assembly and you can see the wire running to the switch attached there. I have seen the retaining tab broken which allows the switch come loose.

Probably the boot. My husband wedged a little piece of paper in the latch because his was never "closed." The paper has been in for about 3 months, but we'll probably have service look at it next time we go in.

I had the same problem earlier this week. For some reason I decided to put my key in the door lock and turn it to the right to lock it and after that all has been fine and dandy.

same issue.. sort of

2002 MCS

the warning light won;t go off. Took the switch out of the trunk latch assembly. It works fine.. Put it back in and it did as before,., Trunk light off (as is Dome) but the warning light is still on. Wondering if there is a relay problem or just a in the warning light. I would think that the trunk latch switch woud be the switch for both the trunk and and the warning light.. Is there more than on element there?

any help appreciated.
