My car was scheduled to be built last Friday, and they just updated the site to say that it was awaiting transport today. I was just curious to those who have gone through the wait how long the process is from here, and how I can get more timely/accurate info. Thanks!

I saw signifcant lag (days) between what the MINIUSA web site showed, and what information was available elsewhere. Read about it here:

Order timing, now scheduled on the Tosca!

I think it all depends on how often they update, don't know how often they do it.

THERE IS A LITTLE LAG TIME, BUT THEY ARE QUITE ACURATE IN RELATION TO HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BUILD AND SHIP THE CARS. IF THE STAUS IS "WAITING TO BE SHIPPED", YOU ARE LOOKING AT ABOUT 3-5 WEEKS FOR DELIVERY. IT TAKES TWO WEEKS TO BE SHIPPED VIA BOAT. AND ABOUT AND WEEK AT EACH PORT AND, DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE AT IN THE STATES, 1-10 DAYS FOR IT TO BE DELIVERED TO YOUR DEALER.

The word here is wait.......

You can check the shipping site to see what ship you are scheduled to be on. This however does not mean anything. It is dependent on if they load it, when it gets unloaded, how backlogged is the VPC, and then how long it will take to get to your dealer by truck. Oh, then there is how long is the dealer going to take to prep the MINI.

My MINI facts;

Built on 12/7/02
At Portsmouth dock 12/7/02
Loaded on ship 12/31/02
Ship arrrived in CA 01/28/03
Offloaded 01/29/03
Admitted to VPC 1/30/03
Released from VPC 1/31/03
Released to Trucking Company 1/31/03
Arrived at Dealer in WA 2/01/03
Delivered to me 2/01/03

Others have long waits at the VPC or waiting for ships ot trucks. IF you get you MINI within 60 days of being built you did well.......

Also do not trust the Owners Lounge it is not updated in a timely manner.

Also, KOOMOFO - welcome sure seem to know alot for your first post.

If you call ASK-MINI with your VIN or production number, they can tell you exactly where you MINI is on the production line or during the wait for transport. After that the shipping company's website can let you know about the sailing schedule of the boat your car is on. Then ASK-MINI can keep you updated through the VPC process.

Belive me, it can get addictive!!

Maybe you can push that button on the keyboard that says "CAPS LOCK" and quit "SCREAMING"

Welcome!

My MINI was built on Feb 3, '03 and I picked her up on March 10th. From what I understand, this is fairly typical for East Coast delivery.

Peace,

Mark
