today i purchased the first new car of my life. unfortunately, i couldn't actually be there for the purchase as it's in memphis and i'm in minneapolis. the alarm kit is getting installed today and my friend is driving it up and it will be in my hands by this time on monday.

it's such a relief that i'm actually going to have a car again, any car since the untimely death of my '94 jeep cherokee (a car i've had since i was 16!) in january. of course, that is feeling is magnified by about 1000x since it's a Mini.

here it is.

it has pretty much everything i wanted on it except wheel locks and i'm thinking about an invisibra, but still shaky on that one.

anything i'm going to need immediately on monday?? besides, um, a kleenex...

Ya - you'll need to know how he rolled the odometer back. Once he gets in it he'll drive at 5 gazillion miles an hour and put 35,000 miles on it.

Also welcome to MCO.

your gonna need some windex (to wipe the finger prints from onlookers at mall parking lots)

a gas card (you wont want to stop driving it)

thats all i can think of now

and some rubber, if a female wants to challenge you in vertical fun in the mini

Nope, the MINI is best, by far! And it's my fourth! I really think I'm more excited about it than I was with my first car, and that was an Integra - no grannymobile.

that's tough for 2 reasons:

1. i don't have my mini yet
2. my first was a '67 mustang - 289 v8

i reserve final judgement for another month a half or so...

Great....welcome.

I also got mine from RoadShow. Did you buy from John? He kicks a$$. I picked up my 2002 MCS on Nov 30 and just passed through the 10K barrier today. Luckily I don't have a lease because at this rate I'm gonna put 25-30k on her this year.

Nice, that must be a lifelong friend, I can think of only one other person that is not related to me that I would let drive my MINI, we have been friends for 28 years and even co owned cars and motorcycles, which was the only way a couple of teenagers could afford high speed transport.

Enjoy it.
