Who else will do the same with your Mini?

 

I have about 75 more years, so I think Ill need to buy a new one (MINI) some time. GEEZ im only 16.

 

At 21, I'm afraid I might outlast my MINI, which kind of terrifies me, because I can't imagine driving anything else.

 

I can imagine putting my MINI in the garage after a few more years when I need a daily driver replacement.

But the vehicle I will never sell and plan to be buried in is my D-90.

 

Well, you could take really good care of your MINI and maybe you could have the highest mileage MINI in the world.... At 21, you certainly have a ways to go age-wise....

I may be in the "cold dead hands" category myself. We'll see what's happening in '09.

 

I figure the MINI is about the same size as the crypt they put the coffin in... so, yes, I plan to be buried in my MINI. Maybe mummified sitting at the wheel, with a big smile on my face.

Other option is to have some friends drive my MINI on the Dragon and sprinkle my ashes out the sunroof!

Morbid? Maybe...but it doesnt hurt to plan ahead. Not that Im planning on dying anytime soon.

 

You said it. Although it seems to drain my wallet for fuel, tires, track time, mods and sheer motoring pleasure I love my MINI

We're leasing, and already I'm planning what to do when the lease runs out... Hey, my arguement is that it's unlikely we'll find another one for the price of the buyout, and hey, mine will have all the mods already installed!

Barring mechanical failure or something unexpected, I plan to keep my car... I love it.

 

Not me... I've been around long enough to know that everything changes... including needs, wants and desires... I'd bet that "forever" for you is just a few years... you'll see

 

This is true, but I do think the Mini/MINI "thing" can stay with one for a very, very long time. For example, I haven't has so much fun motoring since driving British sports cars in the late 60s early 70s.....that was a long dry spell 'til MINIs showed up. There are some cars one can love far beyond their utilitarian use.

As for automotive coffins, I'd be just as happy being layed out in a classic Mini, but since I've permanently switched over to MINIs at this point that seems more appropriate....and the big smile is manditory, of course. I'd look more natural anyway!!

 

I drove my last car (Honda Del Sol) for 9 years and 270,000 miles.

I fully expect to drive the MINI that long. By then there will be choices that don't exist today.

 

I generally belong to the school that says you should drive the damn thing 'till the wheels fall off. Just the other day I was riding around in the same 1985 BMW 535i that I came home from the hospital in when I was born (I'm 16). It's got 175,000 miles on it.

I have yet to actually get my MINI, and possibly this will change once I fall madly in love with it, but I plan to do a little stint in the air force (in Israel) after college and so I won't really have a need for a car for about 2 years, and since the MINI's keep their value so well, I should be able to get a pretty penny for it even 5 years from now. And I'm sure that I could use that money right out of college. Nonetheless, when I get back, sign me up for a '13 MINI turbo diesel!

I intend to keep Wanda always...even if/when I get another MINI!

 

That's how I feel about mine...and since she's paid for, it's just a matter of time before she meets her future boyfriend...

 

I will keep my baby untill the the 12th of never. I have had vettes,VW's and a Trans-am. Nothing and i mean "NOTHING" has given me so many good times and so many good friends as my MINI.

MINI's RULE

 

I totally agree ... for two reasons ...

1. Ever see this movie Things Change? I said the same thing about my first sports car, a 71 240Z. Yeah, I kept it until ... things changed.
2. Someday you WILL have eyes for another (aka Things Change)

 

How many of you plan on divorcing your wife then?

 

My mini will be a daily driver, until I get something else. From that point on it will be a dedicated track car. I plan on keeping it forever.

 

THAT is an excellent question.

The point is that there are many marriage, 30+ years along, and for whatever reasons, they get divorced.

My only point is that .... "You don't know, what you don't know". There is nothing about planning in that. For all you know, and the Lord above pray it doesn't happen (no offense to ANY religion) ... Katrina II could come your way or some unforseen natural or manmade calamity OR middle age crisis OR Who knows?

In fact, an excellent question would be:

How many MINI owners have SOLD their cars once outside of warranty??? (buying another MINI is OK). It seems like many people do to avoid the costs of repairs?
