R50/53 Pry it from my cold dead fingers...
I PLAN to keep Blimey for a long, long time - maybe forever... but as chows says - "stuff happens".
I hypothesize that the 2006 MINI Cabrio may be something "special" in the grand scheme of things 15-20 years from now - even with (maybe especially with) the automatic tranny... I'm keeping every part I take off so I can return it to stock if appropriate... but it's a crapshoot. I'm taking care of it as if it will be a classic - and we'll see what happens.
I suspect in 8-10 years I'll get a different daily driver... but don't have any plans to part with Blimey.
But total loss collisions have a way of changing plans such as this one... keeping fingers crossed...

Absolutely gorgeous car you have there
Tigger.
Well sakeey and MSFITOY, it's a supercharged R53 Cooper S that was registered as new on the 6th of Feb '07
It's certainly the very last brand new Hyper Blue Cooper S in England, though there may have been one or two other colours available from old stock.
Chuffed to bits with it
I've driven lots of turbo diesels, but never a supercharged car before; it's completely different and I love it

Although it was registered new on the 6th of February '07, it was built in June 2006. It was in stock in a dealers in Manchester for all that time and was trailered down to Exeter for me. I was really relieved to find it only had 15 miles on the clock when I got it
Thanks C4

In England the date is written day-month-year, so 6/2/07 is the 6th of February 2007.
I guess that I had better write dates in full in future, save any misunderstanding

geeez i always fall for that...i knew that
Be thankful for what you have and hope everyone stays healthy, wealthy and wise

I have a 2002 MCS (bone stock and original) and I love it, I hope to keep it forever too...
In England and pretty much the rest of the civilized world....We always do everything backwards over here..(dates, driving on the wrong side of the road)..

That won't be too difficult as long as Precision Autowerks is in business

Forever?
With a Jan 16th 2002 build date I bought the 1st MCS delivered to Orlando, Fl. Yes, it was the Dealer's demo. I wanted the lowest serial number I could get, #168. I plan to keep this car until it's a sought after classic. I may buy a newer one, but Minzila stays put. It's been extremely trouble free for 60k miles. Oil changed at the dealer every 3k miles. Hand washed every week and waxed 3 to 4 times a year. It still looks and runs like new. They make fun of me at Downtown MINI about who gets my used oil this time. I even changed the lifetime tranny fluid at 40k and must admit, it looked like new draining out. I've driven collector cars and motorcycles for over 25 years and made money or broke even on every one. I expect the same out of Minzila. The list includes:
66 Mercedes 250 Coupe
64 BMW R69S (motorcycle)
73 BMW 2002
75 BMW R90S (motorcycle)
74 BMW 2002 Tii
73 Ducati 750 Sport (motorcycle)
66 Porsche 912
74 BMW 2002
95 BMW R1100RSL (motorcycle, still have)
90 BMW 325is (still have)
02 MCS (still have)
I wish I still had every one of these vehicles, but my budget only allows for a few, however, the MINI will be with me for a long, long time.

i just got my mini. Only 20 Years old. my two cents: keeping it until i can get another one if needed. looking at maybe a family mini later. by far this has been the funnest car ever! loving it more every day
the next few years i will be adding some mods to it so i deff dont plan on selling. gotta enjoy it to the fullest!

i only have one car now LOL. goes to show that all those bimmers, porsches, benzes, jeeps, muscle cars and whatnots after having $ dumped into didnt last. i guess i get bored fast.
same with bikes, but ive been in love ever since i got my R1 2 yrs ago, but that's different than a car i guess.
