Add me to the list..

Hi, I'm over in the UK and just joined the forum. Please add me to your list of checkmate owners. I have a 2005 Space Blue Checkmate S JCW (we only get this colour and model option in the UK although the JCW conversion is an extra).

This is my 3rd Mini - previous ones being a 2003 Red / Black Cooper and a 2004 Dark Silver / Black Cooper S

I'm loving the Checkmate

Here is a picture:

There are a few more in my gallery.

Great Site.

Another Checkmate

Another new to me 06 Checkmate reporting in. I picked up the car as a daily driver (greater than 120 miles per day commute) on the 29th and have been thrilled so far. She replaces an 03 C32 AMG that I about wore out. I have been on the Porsche forums for many years and must say that your forum is one of the best I have ever seen. I’ll post pics after the rain stops here in SOCAL.

I've gotta say that Space Blue/silver is the only other Mini color I like as well as or better than my Astro Black...

Hey That's Me!

Hi everybody, and fellow Checkmate owners. Thanks PittStopMINI, I had a great time last weekend. BTW - The track wasn't always that clear, I spent lots of time sideways too!

Oh you shoulda seen it in the morning, it was PERFECT snow. Could not have asked for better! LFB, ebrake, scandinavian flick, over- and under-steer whenever you asked for it, and predictable as could be. The afternoon was more like wet/icy/sluch, so it was more real-world. The morning was like surreal world (pics of same course):

I would have liked to do a track day like that in my truck as well as the MINI!

Updated list. Welcome!

Checkmate Package

Is a Mini considered to be a Checkmate limited Edition if it only has the checkered pattern on the fenders, but it does not have the word Checkmate printed above the turn signal indicator, nor does it have the Checkmate emblem on the "B" pillar? It does not have the "U" shaped graphics on the hood, or bonnet, nor does it have the horseshoe wheels. What constitues all the requirements to be a Limited Edition Checkmate series? If I am correct, the run was for about 6 months. Thank you for your help.

A Mini is considered a Checkmate if it was equipped from the factory with the Checkmate package. This includes the fender decals with printed "Checkmate" , door sills with "Checkmate" printed, B pillar "Checkmate" stickers, the horseshoe wheels, the Checkmate interior with custom leather/cloth seats, matching dash trim, and two tone steering wheel. The U shaped hood stripe is the one item I found that is sometimes installed and sometimes not. The color options are also limited to black, white, and space blue (i think). The Checkmate package also replaces the Sport package as it includes all the items in the Sport package. (i.e. Xenons). I am not sure how long the Checkmate option was available to order, but it is limited to 2006 models only. (All of this info pertains to U.S. spec Mini's)

New graphics

I've added a few additions recently to my checkmate graphics (sorry for the dirt, but it hasn't stopped raining in Seattle in a while.)

Checkmates were also available in Astro Black (I know - I bought mine from Mini of Pittsburgh, which is, I believe, here in the great US of A!). There are pictures on this forum of a PW one also, I believe.

Checkmates came in Space Blue (most popular), Astro Black, Pepper White, Pure Silver, Royal Grey, and Dark Silver. BRG and Chili Red were not available since it was thought they would not work well with the blue interior. The stripes could be added or not when ordered, I chose not to have them.
