I have spent a lot of time in the country where everyone waves no matter what your in, so out of habit I do the 1 or 2 finger off the steering wheel wave to everyone, in my mini or in my truck, usually just gets me funny looks

Once I found that there was this friendly appreciation within mini owners and special connection, I definitely started to wave and beep the mini horn to all mini owners. I notice more and more that other mini owners just look at you with two heads as I'm beeping and waving like a crazy women these days
Maybe it's just because they don't appreciate the car as much as all us mini lovers do!!

Either way, I still wave no matter what because I wouldn't trade my Keegan for the world!!! Keegan's definitely a keeper!

I wave whenever I see another MINI. Sometimes in paying attention to the road and to other drivers I fail to see a fellow MINI driver until after they have passed me. I love the fact that there is this sense of brotherhood between MINI people. I often find myself wanting to wave at a MINI as it goes by me while I am standing on a street corner.

I always give a wave when I see another Mini coming by, but not often do I get a wave back.

Not to sound like a male chauvinist, but lately, every time I see another Mini coming my way and give a wave, it turns out to be an older female driver talking on their cell phone, and they don't notice me at all.

I just about Always get a wave and some smiles back from couples out cruising around, and other guys no matter the age (if they see me), but never those people on the phone, I guess they're too important to wave

I've missed waving 2 or 3 times now in the Pacific Grove area due to me staring at scenery and not noticing what types of cars were approaching. Almost wanted to turn around and circle back so I could wave...

I try and always wave even though my wife says that is the only time I am friendly. i do miss sometimes due to paying too much attention to the DA** traffic.

I've only had one or two wave back so far. It's a little similar to driving a Porsche. They day I got my 911 I had half a dozen other Porsche's flashing their lights and waving. On my motorcycle, it's very common to get waves from other riders..so far not so common with the Mini. Hopefully the ones around here will get tired of me waving and start waving back.

I'm finding less than half the MINI's I see on the road wave back. But when they do, it's so worthwhile!

I'm always ready to beep at fellow MINI-ers and wave and everything, but I feel like the NJ/NY area isn't really the sort of place that breeds that sort of comraderie?

Yeah I'm in NJ as well and I've waved at two people. Most people here driving MINIs don't even notice another MINI on the road.

there aren't a whole lot in NJ either, but people in NJ aren't always that friendly towards strangers.

I always give a peace sign, a wave or a bright, but my tints are dark so others probably miss it. Keep it up, it will catch on.

I used to have a CJ7 and there was a code you followed: newer salutes older. Respect the AMC Jeep!

I wave and most in the Portland, Or. area wave back.

I have an xb and i instructed my dad to make sure he waves to other xb's. he didnt realize that it was something of a requirement. He now waves to all xb owners even when not driving the xb.

so i think some people who don't wave just don't know the responsibilities of mini ownership.

i have noticed the miata owners wave at each other as well.

I always wave as well. About half wave back and the other half just stare.... . Just must be the difference between MINI owners and MINI drivers!!

I had a jeep, and jeep owners ALWAYS wave.
my mini has had about 1/3 wave back. most of them look at me like, why are you waving? I don't know you!
They just don't get it. they probably bought the mini cause it was "cute" and dont even know its history. "DAMN YUPPIES" THOUGHT WE GOT RID OF THEM IN THE 80'S!!

I agree, I try to wave but I think they don't see because they're driving defensively trying to avoid the a holes on the road :-(

i think it's all part of the MYOB attitude in NJ. I don't think people are very friendly on the road here.

Do you wave? Do you wait until the other driver waves? Or do you just look at the car and not the driver?

I used to ride a motorcycle, and a simple wave was the usual thing to do. It's kinda neat to be driving a 4-wheeled vehicle and experience the same thing!
I always wave... never wait for the other driver. if they wave back, cool.

As a new Mini driver I would wait and respond to a wave, then get disappointed when they didn't.

Now I wave without hesitation, hoping to spread the fever
