You have no Idea!!!!. . .

Yes, I have finally gotten "approval" from my wife to get my MCS that I've wanted for sometime now. I have been adamant about this car since I drove one about 8 months ago. I usually keep a car for 3-4 years and she usually keeps them for 10 years. . .so there was the problem.

Anyways, she wants me to sign a agreement stating that I will keep the MINI for as long as she says (she gets to pick a date in the future when I have to keep it till ) I'm o.k. with this so long as it's not 15 years or something. . .I will probably take delivery an ordered MCS in August through Classic MINI in Cleveland, OH unless any of you have other suggestions on where to buy. I figure w/ the freebies and 20% disc on accessories, it's a no-brainer. . .now, I just have to DECIDE ON A COLOR . . . WHICH I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS WITH NO SUCCESS!!!!! I need serious help in this decision. I am set on the red octagonal cloth/black lthr on the interior w/ anth hdlnr/dash. . .

Sorry for the rambling. . .but this is a monumentous achievement for me!!!! I am psyched beyond belief!!! All of you have no idea how my wife hates cars in general and how frugal she is with $$$. . . .I love her to death, though, and I can't wait to become part of the MINI family. . .

Cheers

P.S. Has there ever been poll for all NAM members on what exterior colors everybody has?? If not, should we start one?? It would help me choose a color that not everybody else has. . .

Congrats on your 'approval'

Mike Kost at Classic MINI is fantastic. I highly recommend him

As far as exterior colors.. I have to say I'm pretty partial to Chili Red and Purple Haze. Chili Red is extrememly popular though. Purple Haze is being discontinued soon and is among one of the less popular colors. It looks fantastic with the red seats. Just something to think about...

I say either all British Racing Green or the new Space Blue with Silver top, but if you want a real killer color try Hyper blue with HB top

With a red interior might I suggest (if you want a classic look) Chili Red. If not, maybe one of the silvers?

Classic? I thought all MINIs were supposed to be red and the rest were "mistakes" I know I read that somewhere

Silver with a red interior would be killer, add red stripes and wheels and it would be unique . . .

My only regret is not getting the red seats in my DS. I think it would look so hot

My favorite exterior colors:

1. Jet Black/Jet Black (oh wait, that's discontinued!)
2. Chili Red/Black
3. Hyper Blue/Black
4. Liquid Yellow/Black

Definetly a fan of the black!

I'm glad I got my Mini when I did. Liquid Yellow and Black just looks amazing. I would also highly recommend the Aero Kit, it just makes the car look so much better I think. As far as the comment about your wife, I know how you feel. My wife doesn't like the Mini very much and she hates the color. She wanted me to get British Racing Green, which is the color I probably would have got had LY not been avaliable.

Your interior color choices sound fantastic. I'm sure they will go great with either DS/B or one of the blues (HB/S or SB/S). You can see the HB/S in my gallery.
Your wife should be more like mine. We ordered a MINI for her in May 2005 and by Fall she was encouraging me to order one for myself. As I always listen to my wife, I complied and ordered mine on Dec. 30, 2005.

Go custom and do a HO/B hartop, very rare very slick look IMO.
JB/B rules (and has its own thread)
Classic look is the CR(/w) It would do well with the seats matching
If I bought a MINI today I'd probably choose BRG/UJ or /CH with matching strips and mirror caps
SB/S seems popular here on NAM though I've only seen two in person.

My situation was similar to yours. I've wanted a MINI ever since they came out and just purchased a month ago. My wife lost her job last week! Talk about timing! Just a few days and it never would have happened!
By the way, she loves the MINI.
Pepper white would look awesome with a red interior.

Your situation gives new meaning to "pre-approved" financing. I think when I get married it will probably be the other way around.

I think more often than not, the wives/girlfriends/significant other have a larger role to play than many of us will let on to. All I can say is that as long as I get my new MCS, she can crack that whip till the cows come home. . .

Final approval? Lets see.

I, THE MAN OF THE HOUSE, let my wife make ALL the minor decision like: where we live, furniture, car stuff, landscaping. gift buying ... you know, all the routine, normal things in life.

How true this is. I bugged my wife for the longest time, until she eventually agreed for us to make the purchase. We ended up buying an 05 DS/DS MCS. In the showroom was a LY/LY MCS which I really liked, until my wife advised me that "Yellow is a bit young for you!!"

As a point of information I am getting a bit long in the tooth but I don't know if she was trying to make me feel good or what?!?!?

Nevermind the car is great and I do really like the colour.
Whatever choice you make you will not regret it..Good Luck

That's the color combo I finally opted for (with matching JCW brake calipers)

trade

trade how long you hang on to the car for the right to modify it. With each modification it will be like getting a new car
