Gromit was assaulted last night!
We had some MAJOR storms pass through our area last night. They had strong sustained winds, driving rain, hail, and possibly several tornadoes. While the storm was hitting us, I saw a couple of shingles blown off the roof and into the yard and hoped the large tree in the back yard didn't decide to fall on the house.
We got up today and while examining the damage noticed that one of the two shingles blown off our porch roof was leaning against Gromit.
With much dread, I walked over and looked for damage. Sure enough, the wind had blown the shingle against the drivers door, where it slid down to the ground, leaving numerous scrapes and scratches in the paint. Most are just deep enough to be visible, but several are all the way to the primer. AARGH!!
Poor Gromit.
I have already been to the insurance company and talked to the dealership where we adopted Gromit about repairs, and so far it looks like the process shouldn't be too much hassle - once I find a repair shop I trust. Unfortunately living in Swampeast Missouri we are pretty limited in really good repair shops so that may be the only real problem. Luckily the damage isn't something that must be fixed quickly, so I do have some time to do some looking for a good shop.

Sh*t, sorry to hear that. I had some shingles hit my car during Wilma. Scratched a window only, so I got really lucky. There were pieces of shingle wedged between the side window and weatherstripping! I don't wanna know how that happens!
Gromit will be as good as new in no time!

That stinks.
If the scratches are slight, then hit it with a buffer coarse pad and 3M, fine cut paste. I use to work at a body shop. Thats the best way without painting it.
U need a garage like Mine with Bricks!
I left my car outside and it got hit!
now its being repaired

It is just aggravating. I have been waiting for something like this to happen. In some ways, I am sort of glad it was storm damage instead of someone keying it or otherwise intentionally damaging/vandalizing it. I have never had a car I like this much and it just bugs me that it happened.
If storms are common in your area, I suggest you invest in a car cover, even a portable garage if space allows.

So sorry for Gromit.
My MINI, too has been a victim of savage weather. A freak hail storm in '03 got my attention. Since then I've watched severe weather like a hawk. I've outrun several hailstorms, finding refuge in selected nearby parking garages for the duration. (...funny thing is, as crazy at that sounds, there were lots of other people there, too. It was a hailstorm tailgate party!!) Wednesday morning I was up early triangulating between three weather radars watching the same storm go through as eventually hit you. Unfortunately for you, the storm intensified big time. It's sad when a MINI gets banged up. Use the opportunity (as I did in '03) to search out the very best repair/body shop you can find....you may need it again someday. I have.
