Week one, 500 mile thoughts

We took delivery last Saturday and have since put 510 miles on our PW/B MCS. These are my impressions in a nutshell.

Likes:
  • Pickup and throttle response. Dam I can't wait till 1250 miles!
  • Xeons. Never have them and I will never buy another car without them.
  • Stock sound system exceeds my expectations.
  • Ride, like they say "go kart"
Dislikes:
  • Break and gas pedal are to close. I only wear size 11s bit I find my sole catching the break pedal allot
  • Engine noise at 75 MPH 3200RPM is a bit noisy but I can get uses to it.
  • After 500 miles still have a bit of clutch chatter.
  • How other drivers hate to follow you
  • Having to share with my wife.
More to follow

More to follow
1. Congrads on your Order and driving times. Hoping many happy Motoring days for u

2. with ur feet catching it, I recommend maybe a different set of shoes. I know for me, it depends what shoes I wear (although im only size 10). I bought a pair of Puma BMW Williams F1 racing shoes. Best ever. I leave them in the car just for driving

3. I personally like the loudness but then again, I dont own a Cooper S to put up with it all the time so i dont know. (hopefully ill have one soon )

4. Others dont follow u? how so? I lost

Yeah, I'm not really sure what you mean by others don't follow you.
I wish I had that problem, I get tired of looking at jackasses in my rearview tailgating me with their SUV's headlights shining right into my face.

1. 1250 is overrated. My best accel is between 3 and 4k anyway.

2. I keep listening for all this noise that everyone talks about. Coming from a Jeep Wrangler, this thing is pure luxury.

3. My MA has reminded me several times that I bought a SPORTS car.

4. 9 1/2 is the average shoe size.

Don't forget the "Grin" factor. In three years, you will still look at the stupid car and smile . . .

wow, those 06's must be real nice. the slow pickup and inconsistent
throttle response was the first comment i made to my sales person
while i was paying for my 03' several years back.

I did some basic mods on my 03, but i still feel the acceleration is
only acceptable off the line. throttle response has greatly improved
though which makes the car fun to drive.

I think that's what he meant by others hate to follow you... I've noticed this too, I seem to get way more tailgating behind me with the Mini than with other cars, it's almost like they're thinking you're going to slow them down because a little car like the Mini can't possibly go fast enough....

Yep! I have a '06 MSC with the rear fog option, which is very bright, and have found it to be quite effective for "Mr. SUv with the brights" Gets their attention everytime & very soon after the lights behind me get put on dim or they just drop further back. Have not found an SUV that can pass me after I flip the rear fog on & really **** em off...

Welcome to MINIs
The pedals are close to help with hel-toe, I'm a 15 wide and find no issue, may want to adapt style or switch to heel-toe to help this. I agree with all your likes but I don't have Xenons cause I didn't order my MINI just took from stock.
There are some sound deadening options for the DIY crowd, personally I love hear the engine so I just keep off the highway to avoid monotny.
Where in FL are you? Have you checked out SSM?

Heel Toe is a style I'm not familiar with. May need a demonstration. I'm in Sebastian, What is SSM?
