Not sure where to start, I guess with the most exciting. A couple of weeks ago my wife decided that she need a mini, (a mini, not a MINI). So the hunt began. after finding a few "scams" on ebay we ended up finding one in southern Ca. We picked it up last Saturday, and I have hardly been able to get her out of it since. All in all its a great little car, it has some quirks, but I think thats normal. She has already ordered a number of things for it including a Union Jack for the roof. Hopefully I'll have it all ready for AMVIV 3. Thats the plan anyway. Here is a picture....

In the meantime I've added the WMS Extreme rear swaybar and control arms to my 03 S. I must say it (swaybar) does help alot. And hopefully my new wheels will make it here before Vegas too.
Oh, and I finally broke 100,000 miles.
Now I have two MIni's to get ready for Vegas

That is a beauty.
I have a pal that will soon be stationed on the UK for 6 months.
He wants to bring a Mini back pre 88 (I think) as that is concidered "classic" by the military. They will pay to ship it and no import duty / tax.
What kind of research did you do on your new purchase.
I am looking for desirable years, equipment ect.

I'll buy you a beer at AMVIV. What day are you planning on arriving?
I didn't do much research, the main thing I was looking for was that it was at least 30 years old. That way (at least in Ca) I don't have to worry about smog. This one is a 74, at least the body is, the engine has been updated to a mid 90's. Its a computer controled fuel injected model. Which for me might be the biggest drawback on this car because there aren't many shops that can deal with the computer. I guess some Rover places might, but that is of little help to me where I live. Since I've bought it I've found a couple of good places to deal with www.miniguy.com and www.7ent.com are both great resources. Be carful with ebay, two out of the three mini's I bid on there were scams
I still have a lot to learn

I've been buying parts from 7Enterprises. They're coming to AMVIV. If you need anything, contact them and you can save the shipping. If I'd known I wasn't going to be ready for AMVIV, I'd have had them bring the exhaust and rear subframe here instead of having them shipped.
An injected Mini is a pretty late model. A quick look at the pic gives me the impression that it may be a late model car re-vinned as a 74. The rectangular mirrors are late too.
Not that that's a problem. Mine is a 91 vinned as a 78.
