MINI has announced that it will be unveiling its first oil-burning car at the Geneva Motor Show in two weeks' time. It will share the stand with the hot S Works, claimed to hit 60mph in 6.7 seconds.
MINI One D, as the diesel will be called, gets power from a 75bhp direct-injection 1.4-litre unit co-developed with Toyota. The One D should be good for a respectable 58.9mpg on the combined cycle, and accelerate from 0-62mph in 13.8 seconds. Company car drivers should be pleased that the new MINI, with 129g/km of carbon-dioxide emissions, falls into the lowest BIK tax band for diesels of 18 percent. The six-speed manual transmission standard on the rest of the MINI range has been reconfigured in the diesel for optimal power delivery.
Prices will be confirmed closer to the 7 June on-sale date, but expect to pay from £11,500.
On the Geneva stand alongside the MINI One D will be the 200bhp S Works, which was devised by John Cooper Garages as a £3500 sport pack to be added to any standard MINI Cooper S. The 37 horses of added power shaves 1.3 seconds off the S's 8.0-second 0-60mph sprint according to the company.
Chromed exhausts, unique alloys and livery will distinguish the new flagship. MINI reckons it will sell 3000 S Works a year, including those who will opt for the retrofit package. S Works 18-inch alloy wheels and sports seats will also be offered separately.

Sounds more like a Cooper time to me. Perhaps they were going from 0-100kph which 1-62mph. One thing to keep in mind BMW's published 0-60 times are nortoriously conservative.

I think the times are off. The official published BMW acceleration number for the S is 6.9 seconds. The Cooper I believe is in the 8 second range. I think 8.7 if I can remember correctly. I would assume that the S Works will be in the low 6 seconds, if the torque numbers look good.
I am more curious about what the Works Sport Seats and 18" rims look like. Does anyone have pics of these?

At ₤3,500 (about $5,500 USD) for the factory S Works, from what I have seen on the various websites that specialize in MCS hop up, 200 hp isn’t that hard to come by. MINI Madness has a Cooper S Stage 1 Power kit that they claim will give you a reliable 200 hp for $1625. That leaves a lot of money left over to upgrade to lighter wheels and stickier rubber and still have money left over. For that kind of money for the factory S Works option I wonder if they are upgrading brakes, suspension, cooling system etc. I suspect they are.
