Could that be happening because our MINIs have the gas tank "divided" in two separate sections almost like having two tanks?, and just like airplanes (with tanks on both wings) there is a fuel balancing system that takes place automatically, so your readings may not be accurate immediately when filling up...

I'm just guessing here

I thought I somehow turned them on, nope. Cycled through the off, parking, on and then back to off and it shut everything off.

Pulled the flash to high beam again, lights came on, stayed on.

Got out of the car, locked it with the remote and after about 1.5 minutes or so everything went off.

I can only assume this is a coming home light function so you can see the house/walk/drive way when coming home and exiting the car.

It's probably in the manual right?
On my 02 MCS I have the Follow Me Home feature too and since I disabled the daytime running lights I have to manually turn on my HIDS, but to enable the Follow me Home feature, I have to arrive with the lights on and if I shut down the engine with the lights still on, the car will advise with a chime, if I shut down the lights, they will keep blasting away for a few minutes to allow me to get to my home's door and open it, neat!

And yes, it's on the manual.

Cheers!

No idea if this was mentioned, but the the inside door handles serve as convex mirrors when the door is open. You can see down the side of your car and behind you. Almost like it takes the place of the side view mirror which is no longer functional when the door is open.

Shame, mine (and all early R50's) weren't finished in Chrome, they instead had a silver plastic finish;

I park my MINI at a slight angle and at the end of the space. That way other cars will see it mucn easier and keep their distance. This is the system I use for my motorcycles and it work well....so far.

+1 on the angle and placement in the space.

I seek out end spots further away from the store/restaurant/theatre/whatever too, so that there's less lazy people and only one side is vulnerable. I also tend to park at an angle with the pulled-in end closer to the curb, so that it makes a little more door room for the other, inferior car in the next spot.

C ya,
Dutch

I know that you can fit a 58" plasma TV (still in the box) in the back of an R52 with the top down. (Not recommended for anything other than short trips, though.)

You can also fit two full sized ice hockey bags and 4 sticks up the middle with the seats down.

Wanna see a pic of that - both of a 13 foot long snowboard (156 inches), and it fitting in a 12 foot MINI (er, through the sunroof?)

Sorry, not a boarder - I know there was a little mis-print, but not sure if you meant to say 156 cm or 56" ...

... and when it comes to fitting stuff, I even suprised myself at how many tools fit in mine when the boss at the handyman company I worked at screwed me on one too many paychecks (coming out of a full-sized chebbie van)...

Wow, I can't believe I read almost all of the posts here. Learned some truly great stuff and had to run out to my car a few times to confirm things! Now I'll be constantly looking for "new things" in the car that I didn't notice before.

Never owned a car that the gauge read correctly. The sending units only measure depth. I suspect that the top half of the tank is wider than the lower half such that halfway down has used more than half the volume.

Maybe it was a fluke incidence, however yesterday I realized that I couldn't utilize the "auto up" window feature when the door was actually open.

On the R53 / R50, this has to be done by the dealer through the computer.

Every opportunity to display some lights that will help all those other ***** on the road see you sooner is better. I always run with parking lights and sometimes headlights. We recently enacted the headlights must be on when using wipers law. I wish there was a toggle switch for the headlight washer feature so I could splash the windshield and not the whole MINI (I often forget the headlights are on). Safe driving to all!

You don't like it?! I'm surprised. I'd love to have my interior metal parts in that finish. Looks cool. It's a bit demoralizing when you spend a few hours washing and cleaning the interior and then, you see fingerprint marks all over anything that's polished chrome less than a day later.

Not sure if this has been posted before or not, but if you hold the switch to change the mood lights until they blink, then the lights will rotate colors automatically. I wish the dash panel lights also changed colors.
