Royal Grey = Brown

...in case you were wondering. Saw one today on the road. In direct sun the overall effect is definitely brown, which definitely doesn't work for me. I'm all for a rich, non-metallic 70s-era chocolate brown on the right car from same period, but...

I think those (obviously custom) eyes under the hood are intriguing...

Royal Grey is not brown to my eyes. It looks like a cross between bronze and pewter with a little olive green tinge in certain light. It is an understated and very elegant color. It's my latest favorite, too!

Brown, Bronze, Olive = Royal Grey (and thats the color) ..but whatever the color, if you like it you like it, if not, leave it alone.

Exactly. If you had to throw it into a first-impression, gross color bin - it's definitely brown.

DS = Grey
_B = Blue
BRG = Green
...etc., and

RG = Brown

So, that is what I saw. I saw this reddish brown MINI in georgetown the other day and was wondering if it was a custom color!

must be in the eye of the beholder

My Royal Grey definitely has an olive tint but not brown to my eyes.

i have to say, that kind of sums it up....it has some different shades to it, very understated. I was going to go dark silver, but there are already so many of them.....

cheers!

I agree that my RG's paint shifts in light, however I see the hues of green/olive in it, but never brown.

The comments I"ve gotten are "oh that's a great gunmetal" and "wow nice color!"

This MAY have something to do w/ the silver roof/mirrors/stripe and the eye picking up on that and making the rest of the car skew towards silver instead of 'brown'

I'm not sure, except for the fact that I love the color

If I'd been able to see it in person before I ordered our 06 Hyper Blue, I would have been sorely tempted. It's a very distinctive, rich color. I LIKE IT!

Cheers

I have seen Royal Gray. Interesting but it doesn't light up my fire. Gray/silver cars have never been my cup of tea. I still prefer DS or PS over RG.

How many shades of Gray do we need in a fun car?

I might add that the new Astro Black is a gorgeous color! If you want something a little more unique and stealthy this is the way to go. I recently saw a new '06 MCS AB/AB and looked fantastic. This is the only color that looks MUCH BETTER with both body and roof in Astro Black. The contrasting roofs (White/Silver/Black) don't work well with it.
