Just got back from lunch on a bright sunny day in my RG/RG MCS and I'm not getting it either. Greenish yes, brown? My eyes don't see it. I had a couple of reasons for buying it sight unseen: first, I like dark greyish tones, secondly, I wanted something a bit more unique in the MINI world. Here in Houston, DS and CR cars make up probably half the MINIs on the road locally, and most other colors are also pretty common.

In your opinion..it's in my opinion that you need the contrasting roof to really bring out that Astro Black... otherwise it's very bland. Now Jet Black on the other hand looks awesome in all black.
So, let me stress, it's my opinion and am not saying it as a matter of fact like your opinion does.

I have seen AB with a white roof. Its nice but much prefer it with the same color roof. Don't get me wrong, I have alway benns a big believer that MINIs only "look right" with contrasting roofs.

That's my opine...

well i personally don't think a solid color (as the white) with a metallic (body) color work as well. I would only do the silver roof with the Astro.

While we're tangenting off into the subject of contrasting roofs....I have always liked MINI's in solid colors. Think it makes them look more "serious" versus "whimsical" with a contrasting roof. That's one of the joys of MINIdom that each person can choose his variation of look and style.

Must be why I like a white roof....life is generally too serious, I like whimsical.

Royal Gray MINI at Los Angeles Auto Show

This is not one of my better pics but here's a snapshot of a Royal Gray at the Auto Show the other day. Keep in mind the lighting was a mix of flourescent and incandescent.

Clicking on the pic will take you to the flickr page where you can view a larger version.

That's why I put the disclaimer in about the available lighting at the time.

Incandescent light normally leaves an orangish tint- flourescent, a greenish tone.

IMHO - definitely not brown, at least in that light - I feel the urge to check it out in person when I visit the dealer next week - it looks like a terrific colour. Of course, being the owner of a now-discontinued and much-loved SG, it's hard to argue that I'm on the leading edge of knowing what shades actually sell.

After seeing the Royal Grey in person, it is definately most like the picture I posted than any other picture in this thread.

I don't know about that..yours looks quite green...here is a shot i took not long ago..and it's exactly what it looked like in person...it's just a really deep grey with no brown (or green for that matter) in it at all

The thing I like about RG is that is has a certain mystery to it...it is not easily described, is it? It changes depending on how the light hits it, which I also really like.

Yo, I'm jus sayin, is all... I do own a team of 1:43 scale Mini Cooper MkI rally cars. And yes, I am deeply jealous of anyone who owns a metallic brown car. They're just so damn hot.

Ah, yes. Just like that other winner in the MINI palette, BRG... Can't we just be honest?

XAlfa, if you don't like the discussion, then why are you here? Insinuating something about my honesty is a bit over the top...

I call it Peach Melba. And here is possibly the sweetest original brown metallic Pinto on the planet. Now that's hot.
