Okay, let's keep this thread On Topic, please. You can show off your fancy-shmancy Pintos, etc., in the Off Topic :: Autos thread. If you have nothing more to say about RG, then adios.

I am very glad that real life isn't "moderated." That would suck.

The photograph of the MINI in front of brown walls was not snapped under the mostly tungsten lights of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

I only posted my snapshot because I saw a post saying RG looks a different color under different lighting conditions. The mix of lights at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show are different than daylight.

Your pic is a much better example of what one would see out on the street.

Definitely brown elements to RG.

Look, I am a huge RG fan (just ordered one). That being said, I can freely admit that under very specific lighting conditions, it can look more brown than anything else.

But what I love about RG is that it can truly look like any number of colors throughout the day. During the last few minutes of dusk, it can almost look Astro Black, even. Sometimes it appears green. Other times, charcoal. I just love that complexity!

Thats why I love my Pepper White Mini! In some lighting it appears Pepper and in other lighting it appears White

Admitting that Royal Grey is brown is the first step to recovery. You're going to beat this thing, man. We're here to help.

This RG thread seems to be lacking in pics of the RG MINIs themselves! Anyone have some to post?

Hmmm... Exactly what we need here... A Ford Pinto lover!

Hey Alfa, that is one hot car

Interesting....I have not seen this color. Didn't even know about it. But I must say, anything that looks even a little brown would be pretty gross for a MINI. And olive green is absolutely my least favorite color - I absolutely hate it. I'm guessing I don't want to see this "royal grey".

Actually RG looks quite nice... I've seen it and i definitely agree that in some light you get a greenish tint but I didn't perceive any brown...

The color I like the least is Astro Black... not because of the color itself but because it's called black! To me it appears to be a really dark blue and the fact that its called Black bothers me! It's a nice color but definitely NOT black. The roof of my car is more black than Astro Black.

OK ... someone hit me with the Spinal Tap reference... it is inevitable

Maybe I'm slightly colorblind, because I consistently see the color as 95% grey w/ some tinges in the grey but I never look at my car and see anything but primarily grey.

I saw Royal Grey at the dealer today. I'll call it dark greige. Not very mettalic, even under bright sun. Nice innoffensive color, though it is not one I'd buy (DS/B). I'm expecting to see some nice MINIs in this color tho..

We need a spectral analysis of RG under different lighting conditions.

The real test is how long does Royal Grey give you between washes. DS (imo) seems to buy you an extra week, at least.

Word. DS may be the only color that actually looks good dirty. You can get that trendy matte finish thing going with a couple of weeks of grime built up. And I like it when my silver wheels build up a little brake dust and look DS too.

Yeah....sometimes I am a LITTLE regretful I didn't get DS instead of all Jet Black!

Hey, I got out of a parking ticket because on the citation, the color was described as a brown MINI
