R50/53 If you could do it over, would you still buy a Mini...

Or for that matter...would you purchase another Mini?
I tried doing a search on this topic but came up empty handed...or should I say..."empty search". I may have used the wrong search terms so I apologize for beating a dead horse...
I have seen mixed feelings on this board about the Mini's and the buying experience...

No doubt about it. I wonder now why I waited so long to get my first one....
As D.I.N.K.ies (Double Income No Kids) we plan on having cars instead of kids and we have considered becoming a 2 MINI family (we already argue over who will drive it!)
Cars in the garage: 2006 MCS JCW, 1980 Porsche 911 Sc, 2005 Ford F-150, 1956 Chevy (Classic!)
Favorite.....MINI!!!

I'd do it again. No question.
There is still no other car on the (US) market that gives so much fun for so little. I am reminded of this every time I drive something other than a MINI.
It doesn't matter which model of MINI that you are driving, they are all such a blast.
I would change nothing on my car if I were to buy another, other than add LSD, now that it is available.

No question
In a heartbeat. As it is, I have to guard my keys. I can see my husband getting one for himself at some point, and my teenage son is already begging for one! What's funny to me is that his dad (my ex) drives a Porsche 911 and my son would take the MINI over it if he could choose!

Yes. Considering the alternatives available in the USA I would definitely get another MINI--especially the 2007 version, but maybe in late 2008.
If I lived in Europe or Australia I would have to think hard on it--they have so many little cars to choose from--but MINI would be the choice by which to compare the others (such as a Clio). If I lived in Asia I might not even want a car. I can't imagine myself in South America even though I used to live there. And Africa and Antartica are too extreme for me.

darn, this is a tough one. i obviously like them enogh to have bought 2 of them within 8 months, but, if i was to do it all over again, i might have ended up with a Cobalt SS. It was pretty close, and it got even closer when i saw the GMS discount on a cobaly SS!
But, i sacrificed the horspower for the MINI, and i was happy. then i bought my S. Still doesnt have the pep of the 2L 210 horse ecotec, but, they are very close.
But if i had to do it over, id have bought an S to begin with.

Great to read! I know that I have some folks have had bad dealings with the dealerships and getting service done can be a real pain in the "boot", especially having to drive such long distances for service.
I know these cars have their quirks...but what cars (besides Honda) don't?
I am soooo excited about getting one, but have been nervous about reliability. I am also concerned about the attitudes of the dealerships. I have never ever paid MSRP for a car before and would not have ever thought I would, but the folks at BMW know what they are doing with their marketing schemes and keeping demand high and supply low. You gotta pay to play so to speak. So I sucked it up and have agreed to MSRP. I just don't like the dealership attitude of "if you don't like it...tough...go somewhere else...for everyone of you, there are 10 more knocking at my door to purchase"
But I do appreciate everybody's candor...I am certainly looking for all experiences whether they have been good or bad.
Thanks Again,
Joe

I am on my second MINI. Trying to get hubby to sell his Corvette and get yet another MINI! Yes...I would get another MINI...but I won't be selling my Wanda....no way!
Remember, skyydiver, that many folks will post about their problems, but the vast majority have no problems, so do not post. Don't be deterred by folks airing their issues.
Cobalt SS, NSRNWC? The MINI is not about straight-line power, but about handling, especially in the twisties!

I love the one I have, so no, I probably wouldn't buy another one. I want this car to last forever and for my next car to be an M coupe to play with.
And to do it all over again - I would have taken a more serious and longer look at the RSX-S because of build quality and reliability (my MCS has given me no reason to question its reliability yet; its build quality (fit and finish) however...:impatient)
