R50/53 If you could do it over, would you still buy a Mini...

Yes!
I've already done that too - I'm currently on my second MINI. I have told her the same thing with this one - that I plan to keep it for a very long time! Only this time, I've changed it slightly - I told her that I plan to "retire" this one into a track toy and buy another daily driver in a few years.
(I will certainly look at the MINIs then, but who knows what else might be available by then)!

I too can't think of anything I would want that is available in N America.......that I would sell the Mini for...... I am thinking of building a Miata or maybe an older Porsche but I would not sell the Mini for either.
It depends. I have purchased two so far but I have no plan to replace the current one with an 06 model. I'll need to have a close look at and drive a 07 or later before I make that decision.
BTW, I have no plans to trade or sell the current car, It will remain in the family as a track only car.

I just sold my DIY Turbo miata so i can order my 06 MCS. IT's hard to do...I understand what you are going through. However, after the sadness left, there was a sense of freedom as all those little projects I had planned on doing are now gone!
As for the *another mini*, we picked up my wife's 05 MCSa labor day weekend, and i'll be ordering mine soon...
i'm actually selling my '80 SC to buy my Mini...the only problem is I have to sell it first
. I Do love my 911, but I've had it for over 7 years now, and am ready to move on to a new, street legal go-kart
....oh and the reason i'm not keeping it - just the opposite as JCWGurl, i have a kid and can't afford it.

I can't think of another car I'd rather have than my 2003 MCS that isn't over $60,000.
Audi RS4 Cabrio maybe...
of course, if I'm considering something in addition to the mini...
1987 Buick GNX
1991 GMC Syclone
1969 Pontiac Lemans Convertible with a fat a$$ big block.

I'm with MINIclo... the majority of the posts on any messageboard will be problem related. don't let it deter you. Just make sure you've got a good dealer that will give you a loaner when you have to take your car in for service and move on. This will be my first new car and I'm really looking forward to having a car that I never have to worry about mechanical problems with. if there is a problem, they'll be fixing it and I'll be driving whatever loaner they give me. I have an uncle with a repair shop and everything, but a free repair is always better than a discount! I think you can have problems with any brand of car if the dealership is lacking... hopefully yours will be top notch!
Yes, yes, yes!
I love my MINI and want to keep him forever. It's like crack; I'm hooked. Now I can't imagine myself in another type of car, and, years down the road when it's time for a new car, I already know it's going to be a MINI.

I hope that we will be a 2 MINI family. But I am begining to think like the boys on WRR. A longer larger family hauler as a second MINI. Yes that would mean a turbo as a larger Clubman/Travler would not arrive untill say '07-'08
I hope to be that guy who is selling his beautifully maintained original spec 25 yr old 03 MINI Cooper S with 250k miles on the odometer in the year 2028 for a great price of $25000....
With that said....I would definetly buy a MINI again

With my MINI going 30/40/50 is a blast--the sounds are great and it feels a lot faster than it is/the handling unmatched and "Zainoing" takes way less time. I am sold on MINI.
The Cobra however....man. What a rush.
P.S. to the folks in general: Please, I'm really not trying to get into another argument about which car is better, because unlike many others it seems, I'm aware that there's no such thing as "the greatest car eV4r!!!" What satisfies you might not satisfy others.
NO, Definitely NOT,
I'd buy TWO, a MC so that when wifey wants my S, I'd still have something fun to drive. OH, whoops...I guess I still can do that, wait until she find out I have my eye on her VW station wagon as my next TRADE...

I like my MINI, but it doesn't suit my needs, and surely will not going forward.
Fun car, but after 2 years some of the novelty has warn off. The little things about this car that have always bugged me are getting on my nerves more and more these days. :impatient
Yes probably, though I'd be tempted right now by the new GTI with the DSG gearbox or if I could get my hands on a Renault Clio V6 or the new Focus ST or some of the other cool hatches Europeans get. But I live in North America so that makes the decision easy
.
Maybe not, I miss low end torque. My tastes are reverting backwards to other options like my neighbors and friends M3, IS350, and GTO. Just personal tastes, not the MINI's fault.
However, this car still surprises more than a few people, I don't remember the last time I bought gas, and there is probably $20k left in my pocket over some other options, so tough call.
