My wait is almost over...

It's late Wednesday night here (in Italy) and I have an appt to go pick up our MCSC Friday morning. I'm so excited I could plotz...we ordered it almost 6 months ago.

There are a lot of MCs here on the island I am stationed on since BMW/Mini/Volvo has such great deals for servicement stationed overseas but there are NO MCSCs here at all. At least not for the next day and a half .

I will try and get some pics of the car and the local scenary as soon as I can. Or as soon as I stop driving...it may be a while.

Ciao Lemur!

I was in Italy until July. I picked up my MCS over there, and I only had it for 10 days before driving it to Sicily for shipment. I then had to wait a second time for it to arrive in Norfolk. I finally got her back a few weeks ago.

I recommend you take the overnight ferry to Napoli and drive the beautiful Amalfi coast!!!! You will never regret it.

Some of the Pentagon Car Sales perks are:
-Mini First Aid Kit (with green decal on stirage box)
-Spare Bulb Kit
-Mini emergency triangle
-Free mats!

But they only give you a quarter tank of gas.

I would also ask them not to drill the holes in the front bumper. I'd use zip tie (or bolts) through the grill to affix your cover plates. You may end up in a state (like NC) where front plates are NOT required.

'05 MSRP was $1450 less than US MSRP for the MCS. But you only get 2 years warranty in Europe! (It gets extended to MiniUSA warranty if you bring the car back to the US.) Shipping from Europe to East Coast is anywhere from $700 from Bremerhaven Germany to $1500 from Naples. Aviano, Munich are somewhere in between. If you need info on space A shipment, PM me. Some states in the US WILL make you pay sales tax when you first bring the car into the country (even if it is 2 years from now!) Like VA. So do your homework if you have the option of registering it in various states. (i.e. home of record, parent's house etc) Good Luck.

Bienvenuti!

Hey Chief,

I may have to pay tax, yes, but I am a resident of South Dakota and will be registering it there. Sales Tax is only 2% so it shouldn't be THAT bad if they make me pay it when I go back in two years),

The Amalfi coast is one of our destinations for sure. I will be gone from Feb to May but when we get back, we are so there. I know that part of Italy is beautiful but parts of Sardegna aren't anything to scoff at either.

I'm a little confused...did you have to pay for shipping back to the states?

Something else I forgot to mention...we didn't test drive one before we bought it (there were none available to do so) so tomorrow morning will be my first time even IN a MC. Some people would say that buying a car without test driving it is stupid, and I am one of those people usually, but we needed a small car and my wife loves the way it looks. Sold to an American...

If I have to elaborate on it, the meaning will be lost. Use your imagination

[QUOTE=Flyinglemur]Hey Chief,

QUOTE]

I shipped my minivan back to the US via the DoD contracted company from Naples. So I had to make arrangements to ship the Mini myself. Pentagon Car Sales recommended the company they use (to ship their BMWs from Munich to Italy), and those were the prices they quoted. Actually the price from Naples was from the DoD contractor. (ALS maybe?)

ANyway, I shipped my Mini space A from Sig. PM Me if you're in the same situation and need to ship a second car.

SO?, TELL US: HOW IS THE NEW MCS????

Chief,

Now I get it. My wife works in the Personal Property Outbound Office here in La Madd so we have all the paperwork we need. We are going to try and use the opportunity lift to ship our Buick back about 7 months before we transfer since it can take a while apparently.

How do I like the MCSC? I haven't stopped smiling since I picked it up yesterday. Pics are in my gallery and I am trying to make a new banner for my signature.

THAT LOOKS SWEET!

I know what you mean about the grin that is automatically induced by getting behind the wheel.

Sometimes I wake up at night and go out just to sit in Q-Ball. I can't get enough.

There is only one thing I'm worried about: How it MAKES me step on the gas every time I enter a corner! I'm gonna get in trouble with the MPs one of these days.

ENjoy your beutiful Mini, on those beautiful roads. Drive safe!

Chief,

I think I may be in love. I know it is really early but I may have to rethink my retirement car. As of now (and for the past 15 years) I want a Callaway 'Vette. However, I MAY want to get another one of these and trick it out right from the get go.
Hmmm.....

Grrrrrr! :impatient I can't wait till I have my Mini in my driveway so I can take pics of it, and tell everybody else who's still waiting on theirs how simply divine it is to have one, and knowing all along the torture I'm putting those poor Mini-less folks through! I'm being tortured now!

Hehe, these threads re-ignite my excitement in getting my Mini... another month to go..... It'll be well worth the wait I'm sure =)

Glad you're enjoying yours!

I am so sorry No wait, I'm not Seriously, you can like I did to pass the time...download the picture of your Mini from the website after you designed it, set it as your wallpaper and spend a little bit of each day with one hand on each side of the monitor screaming "WHERE ARE YOU??!!" I found that helps.
