R50/53 A couple of questions on my new Cooper order
Now that my Cooper is on order (Pepper Wht./Blk, Chrome, Sport Pkg., Lthr. Wheel) I have a couple more questions:
I heard in another thread that there were some roof warping issues on the black roofs. Since I live in sunny SoCal, this concerns me. Is there any validity to this rumor??
I drive a lot for my job, with an average of 25k per year. Has anyone purchased extneded warranty coverage beyond the 4yr/50k? If so, how much, and can this price be negotiated?
Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the board! Great color choices by the way! Awesome! I'd be interested in hearing about the warped roof thing as well as I haven't run across any mention of it yet.
Also, have they given you an estimated production/delivery date yet? I'm keeping track of those of us who are expecting delivery in March and would add you to the growing list of people in the "Can't Wait for March" club!
Thanks,
Bill

Our MINI dealership has been open since March of last year and we had customers from all parts of the country get the MINI serviced here for all sorts of issues. I have not seen or heard of one being serviced here for a warped roof. I don't think you'll have a problem

I'll put in my 2 cents but I'm no expert...except that I live in sunny Texas!
First, no I have never even remotely heard (or seen) any rumors of roof warping, but MCO is probably the best place to find out.
On the warrantee, check around for a thread here or on MINI2...I saw one recently on the maintenance agreement. I'll be a new owner soon so I'll be making that decision. One interesting comment compared the routine mainenance cost on a brake job vs the cost of adding a year to the maintenance agreement....seemed like it might be a cost saver for those keeping our cars that long.

I live in Florida and Keeler Mini rocks!!!!
I broke down with the linkage problem in
the Cooper last summer and these folks
did a temporary fix(parts were not available)
that got me back to FL. All within about 4
hours of the tiome the car died, including the
tow from about 15 miles north. Thanks again Keeler!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Ya, I know that the black roof will get hot here, but I love the Pepper Wht. combo. I am ordering through Long Beach, and they estimate a delivery in 6 mos. I liked their attitude and MSRP pricing, and I'm not in a rush to get the car. The wait will allow more $$ to be saved.
For those of you in SoCal, I also thought about Irvine Mini. I was there last week, and the sales rep. there told me that they just dropped their dealer markup package, and they are now selling at MSRP. They told me 6 to 8 weeks on a Cooper order.

Never heard anything about the roof issue. Don't worry.
I am expecting delivery tomorrow (crossing-fingers) of my Dark Silver/Black/Black MCS and I am in SoCal. Wouldn't worry about the black roof either.
My dealer is Alexander BMW/Mini and they have been great!
