R50/53 How long does it take to get a MINI built and shipped?
My dealer placed my order on 11/22 and the estimated delivery is 1/6. That is providing nothing holds it up at the VPC, which could add possibly up to 3 weeks (but this seems to happen infrequently).
Based on what I've gathered from others' posts, 6-8 weeks from order to pick-up is the norm. Keep in mind it also depends on where you live, as the trip through the Panama Canal adds some time for those who patiently wait on the left coast.

Depending on where you live. Mine took 3 months from the time the order was processed to the time I was sitting in it. But then as well, the loading docks in which is was dropped off, from across 'the pond' to the Canadian docks, was on the opposite end of the country. So then it had to travel from the tip of the east coast to the tip of the west coast. I wasn't on one of those waiting lists. My MCS order was passed through right away. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Cheers,
It seems to be unique for each person. My order was placed on 12/4. It's not scheduled to come off the assembly line until 1/24/03. That's a full 51 days (seven and a half weeks) from order to production date. Now then it needs to float across the big pond then thru the Panama Canal over to the West Coast, then to my dealer. I suspect it to take another 5 weeks after production to actually drive the car. So a total of around 12 weeks. Now this doesn't include the 38 and a half weeks from the time betweek getting on the wait list to being able to place my order. Hope these stats help you.

Sounds like you and I were waitlisted about the same amount of time. I put down my deposit mid-February. I'm a little surprised you've got so much time between your order date and production date, but perhaps each dealership times these things differently. Hopefully they'll move your production up a bit; mine was moved up a week from 12/13 to 12/6. Good luck!

I ordered in October, but had a delay due to my desire for the Harmen Karden Radio. Mine was built December 3rd, got on a ship the 21st and is on its way to California. Looks like I will be taking delivery around the 25th of January. So all in all , about 3 months from order placement to delivery

great I was just wondering because I wasn't able to get the harman Kardon stereo and some other people are getting it even though there car is arriving only 2-4 weeks after mine. My Cooper S will be at the dealer in Utah (MINI of murray) sometime in the first or second week of january.
Now for the bad side....
Here are my stats,-----
Ordered - 7/29/02
Built - 12/6/02
Sent to Shipper - 12/09/02
On ship - Not yet, still "WAITLISTED".
So basically what I am saying is that it could take a long time or short time. My Mini got to the port for shipment a couple of days after 'JBS'. We were booked on the same ships, he got loaded and I didn't. MINI's made after mine were also loaded. So it just depends on how the shippers load the boat. You could get lucky like some of the people here or you could be unlucky like some of others here. I have heard of others waiting for their MINI to be loaded and six or seven boats have come and gone they are still waiting. I look at it as a crap shot....someone wins and someone comes close, but in the end we will all be happy becuase it is a choice we made.

I'll be calling the dealer today to find out. I heard there's been discrepencies with the dates listed on the Owner's Lounge. I wish I knew why there's such a time difference in between placing the order and actually getting built. But I did recieve my production number right away, so I don't think the dealership had much to do with it...I think it must be the mfg plant that comes up with the production dates...
