Shopping for new Mini

How important is it to buy my mini from the nearest dealer?

Hi Clipper - welcome to the forum

It is not necessarily important to purchase a mini from a local dealer. You can take your mini to any dealership for service. In CA some dealerships have markups, so you may want to aviod those. I am purchasing my MCSa from another state to avoid dealer mark ups and to get the car sooner. You may want to call local dealers to see how long the wait is for the car and if they have a markup before deciding where exactly you want to get a mini from.

Btw - what kind of mini are looking in getting?

If you can get your MINI at MSRP from your local dealership then it can be a nice bonus to have it serviced where you bought it.

If your local dealer charges a premium over MSRP or makes you buy options you do not want, then you should shop around for a dealership that does not do this.

Just don't make a scene and storm out of the local dealership after telling them you are going elsewhere with your business since you do want them to be nice when you bring your new MINI to them for service

It isn't crucial that you buy from your local dealer. But I would check and see if you would be missing out on any of their "Perks".

For Instance, if you buy a car from us (Dreyer & Reinbold MINI), we're going to provide you with a loaner car or rental car coupons when you come back to have your car serviced. We also have a FREE Saturday Carwash for clients who have purchased from us. If you haven't purchased from us, we won't provide with those perks.

On the flip side though- I might have a car in my inventory that meets your need and so you wouldn't need to wait to order or pay over MSRP !

Often, there is no "nearest" dealer.

Dealer Installed Options

If you've got two or more dealers within your range and you're ordering some of the dealer installed options, check all the dealers for "installed" pricing. I was dealing with two dealers equal distant from me. For the Alarm System listing for $295; one wanted $395 installed, the other $595 installed.
