MISSED TWO BOATS!!!

This is my first time checking in on this thread. My 05 CB/DB MCSC is on MAERSK Teal as well. I guess it's time for me to book a ticket to OH in order to pick up my MINI and gently break it in on my way back to OR. To play it safe, I'll shoot for the second week of June since the dealership will need some time to do the upgrades.

 

Not uncouth...but I live 3 hours from the dealer (4 hours in winter when certain roads are closed) and I want them to remember me fondly in case I ever need their help. Besides, this is the crew who called in a service tech on a Saturday -- when service was closed -- to fix the wipers of a couple who had driven a couple of hours from CT for repairs. One good turn deserves another. Pete

 

I just checked this morning "At Distribution Center" according to my Owner's Lounge. It says it estimates it will be done there tomorrow.

You know in a way I love the way we can track our cars but on the same hand I hate it. I hate it because it makes me more and more crazy

But now I have a small problem. I found a steal on a set of 18" JCW wheels with the TIRES on Ebay being sold by a dealership. I'm thinking about if I should dive in and pay cash for those or get the R99 I had planned to get. Any thoughts?

 

OK. According to the automated system my MINI is ON ITS WAY TO THE PORT OF EXIT!!! So its built. When can I start tracking it on Wallenius? I think I was told by ASK MINI is once its at the port of exit they can't help me anymore. My last MINI made it on a boat the same day.. so I'm hoping for the same luck this time (I'm knocking on my wood coffee table).

As for the 18 inch wheels. If I lived out west with smooth roads perhaps. But living in the NYC suburbs with the bad roads and winter potholes, I'd avoid the 18 inch rims (rougher ride, more prone to damage). Also there is talk on MINI2 about the tires wearing out quickly on the 18. Frankly i prefer the 16 inch rims - the ride is a tad smoother. The editor of Automobile Weekly and I had a talk on 16 versus 17. We both personally preferred 16. They had a Cooper S in their test fleet which they loved.

 

I was able to track my car on the WW site about a day after it was built. As for the rims the road conditions is exactly why I am hesitating. Althought if I got them I could have two sets of wheels. Such as Summer and winter.

 

Hmm even in summer you will still have to encounter more bumps on the road. If I were you, I'd drive the car a month and see how you feel about the 17 (16?) on your car then decide. If you wanted to, you could always bid on the 18 andkeep them around and if you decide that they might make the ride too rough, ebay them (again).

Starting tomorrow, on a daily basis, I will start tracking the Wallenius site. From Oxford to the port of entry is a few hours ride.

 

OMG!! OMG!!MINI Tracking is so messed up!! I just called my MA to tell him my car was @ the VDC and wondered why he hadn't called me yet to find out my car arrived @ the dealer last night

I'm so shocked. I'm sitting @ work with a horrible day and now I am so pumped.

Lady Bug is on the Maersk Teal and should land in Charleston SC on the 17th (however an earlier message on this board said it gets there on the 18th) How many days will it take to get to my dealer in Kansas City? I did not order anything special to be added by the dealer, so can anyone tell me how long the dealer has her before I can pick her up? I was hoping to have her before Memorial Day weekend. My salesman has not emailed me or called since I ordered her last March 11th.

 

I have some crappy ones from my Mom's cell phone. I will post in a bit. But come Wednesday they tell me I can have my car with everything on it (with an IOU for the Aero Kit cause their body shop is behind). Thats if all the parts come in on time and get installed.

You mention the wheels to come....anyone know if the web spoke wheels are fitted at the factory?

 

If you added them to your order as a part of the Sport package then Yes. I have seen several cars roll off the truck with them already on.

The wheels I have coming in to be installed are the R99s in gray/anthracite.:smile:

 

Thanks for posting the pics! Looks very nice. I should have ordered the web spokes but it was too late when I decided to do so. My car is at the port of departure. Now I'm waiting for a ship. Should I now go to the Wallenius site to see its progress? I hope to have it in 2 weeks (I'm in Northern NJ, close to the port of arrival).

According to WW site, it will be there on the 17th. However, getting the car to Kansas before Memorial Day weekend might be pushing it.

 

Looks like my MINI may have missed yet another boat. It's now booked on the MORNING NOBLE. My car has been at the dock since 5/4/05 and has been waitlisted from two ships. I'm still not clear how or why it could have missed those ships. Why would it still be there (from 5/04) and almost all the later arriving cars get shipped out? This is all quite frustrating.

Update: it looks like my VIN no longer works on the WW site. This typically means it made it on a "K" line ship. I'm hoping for the Emden

I was just very lucky. If all goes well and I get my car on Wednesday that day will be exactly one month from the day of order.

 

Hey Gabe! Our MINI's must be commiserating together! I just checked the W&W site and my VIN # no longer works also! Argh!

I just talked with my MA. The wheels I want have to ship from CA to MD and could take 3-4days. Because of this the earliest I can get the car is now Thursday. If not Thurs then Fri. Oh well, I guess I'll just clean the garage again in prep for the new car then wash and wax the old one while I dream of that supercharger screaming.

 

I just checked. I'm booked on the BOHEME that arrives in NYC on May 27th!
Does Booked mean that its confirmed? No asterisk next to VIN.

So I will be a May delivery (if all goes well) since it only takes a day to get the car to papa once its left the VDC!

The MINI will have to learn some Swedish and Flemish/French to speak to its shipmates - Swedish and Belgian made Volvos (it stops in Belgium before going to England). Of course I assume the MINI will speak the Queens English to its MINI shipmates.

Its getting close!!! For those on the Atlantic Seabord it might be fun to do a May alumni get together..

 

Saw everyones posts and thought that I would chime in with my own info.

I ordered mine on the evening of 4/25 , and the order was actually placed on 4/26. The OL said it went from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production" on 4/29. Checked ASK MINI on 5/4 and it said that my MINI was "in the paint shop", with an estimated completion date of 5/9. I check on the statis of my MINI on 5/11, and found that it had been transported to the docks in Southampton on 5/10. After anxiously check the WW site, I found my MINI had been "Received at the Terminal" and "Booked" on the 11th. A little later that same day when I checked, it showed up with an asterick next to it. Just my luck I thought - "I've been waitlisted". I then checked back on the 13th, and low and behold, I found that I had actually been put on the Takasago which sailed on the 13th. My MINI is getting off in Charleston as it's final destination is in Texas.

It's official. My car is on the Emden. I would imagine quite a few others who had they cars waitlisted from earlier this month are on there as well.
