Yeah, and that's my concern - if the ship is gone, and it doesn't show my status as "loaded on vessel" does that mean I'm waiting 'til thursday for a boat?

I called ASK-MINI but the guy there told me once it's on the docks, they can't tell me any more information, like a boat or something. So that means I'll have to wait and see if WW changes my boat, or if I stay on the TRIANON.

Maybe they loaded everything up, and are still scanning the VINs in as they sail? I can dream, right?

Argh, this is killing me. I'd be completely fine if my VIN was tracked to the next ship (MAERSK TEAL), but it's still showing TRIANON! And that ship left some time ago!

I'm in MINI limbo... Not a happy place to be.

My MINI limbo: I've been "scheduled for production" for 3 weeks. ASKMINI tells me last week car will be built this week, and this week they say it will be built next week. No VIN. Dealer does not know have a clue as to production date. MINIOL since March displays my MINI as "order received." Dealer already has 20k via my trade in.

No worries there...

You should be fine; there might be some kind of a glitch in the system. Your MINI is probably in production and will be completed next week.

Have you called ASK-MINI and spoken to a real person instead of the automated prompts? They might be able to help you out more!

Actually it was ASK MINI that gave me the different weeks. I spoke to a live Rep. A friend at work has a friend who works at BMW and the person looked up my order number and he told me that I am scheduled to start prod. on 5/18.. yet another new date.

How long does it take to build a MINI anyway?

I was originally told May 18th too but the car was built some time last week. It is now sailing the seas. Maybe I'm just lucky. I ordered on April 18th.

I have a production date of 5/18 as well.
But, the 18 means the 18th week of the year, not the date.
5th month 18th week.
Which, not counting Jan 1st, would be week of May 9th.

I was told 5/18 as well and I was told 18th week (which would have been this week). Same exact story as yours. Though I ordered the car the third week of March

But today I called and they said they will have a firm production date on 5/18 and it will not be built next week. Also told the car stays IN PRODUCTION status for 1-1.5 weeks. Oh well, at least it will be built in May but probably won't get here until June (now).

Im getting tired of being anxious to receive the car! LOL.

It won't be here in time for my trip back to Montreal. Oh well, I should put the miles on my old car anyway..

Maersk Teal!

I'm on the Maersk Teal! Do I have any shipmates here?

Left today, due in NY the 13th.

Is there any way to track progress across the ocean, or is it just from port to port with WW?

CONGRATULATIONS! Glad you found your baby!

I know that soon in a few weeks I will be tracking mine on a boat...

Funny part is my contact at MINIUSA said mine was delayed since I made a change to the order which is incorrect. I corrected a mistake the dealer made but I found the mistake on the same day that the order was placed and the car was still status 111 (On Order)... Strange..

Thought I'd chime in here since I'm officially a May delivery now. I ordered my MCS on the 19th of April and it just finished production on May 3rd. Somehow, someway it made it out of the factory and onto the MAERSK TEA for it's May 5th voyage (docking in NYC 5/13). I'm hoping to take delivery (if all goes well) around 5/21.

Here's my factory spec as it appeared on MotoringFile:

Black/Black
Chrome Trim (exterior)
Limited Slip Differential
Rear foglight
Sport Pack
Premium Pack
Cold Weather Pack
Cloth/Leather: Octagan Tartan Red
Chrome Trim (interior)
Anthracite Dash
Anthracite Headliner
JCW 18" Wheels (S-lites w/All Season tires for the winter)

Looks great, Gabe! Huge departure from your Cooper!

I wanted to ask you this on MotoringFile, but figured it'd get lost in the sea of comments in your post...

How on earth did you get into queue, produced and put on a vessel so quickly? I ordered March 26th, car was completed April 29th, and it's on the MAERSK TEAL like yours is, departure a few hours ago. Do you have connections since you review/work with or concerning the MINI? That seems ridiculously fast, for everything to be done in just under a month!

What gives?! I'm more curious than anything, but I have to admit the jealousy is there too...

Jesse

There Gabe!! Alright man our MCSs were built in the same month

The ship with my baby is on its way to NY as week speak and is expected next week.

I love that site that you can track the ships with but my ship doesn't track on there. Oh well.

Nugget is onboard with you! Sailwx is a good way to track movement, as is the NOAA site if the ship is part of the voluntary oceanographic study -- VOS participants send regular weather and water temp readings and their positions are plotted along the way. In looking at the Sailwx pages, the Maersk Teal made regular reports approaching Europe on her voyage last month, so I'm hopeful!

It's times like this I miss being in the submarine fleet; I'd have her position within a quarter mile all the way across the pond! pb

I think it's a combination of knowing my dealer very very well and getting lucky on timing. I really don't think my connections at MINIUSA or the Oxford Plant have anything to do with it. Granted, it would be cool if they did

And yes it will be a huge departure from my Cooper... I can't wait!!!

Boon, could you link me to one of the tracking sites, that shows the MAERSK TEAL? PM would work, if that's better for you.

Gabe, it's cool you were able to get it at the "perfect" time! I wish I had MINIUSA connections...

I'm counting the days 'til the vehicle reaches the VDC! Anyone know how long it usually takes at the Distribution Center?

D'oh!

Oh, I'm an idiot. I have the one from your initial post bookmarked already. Geez. That's what I get for not paying attention. I'm just blinded by MINI-love!

WOO!! I just checked on the Owner's Lounge today. It says car is "En Route" and I know this by checking the ships website for tracking. Also under the cars details is says: "Esimated Delivery Date: 5/14/2005". Do you all think thats to the VDC or to the Dealer? According to the shipped the ship will be in NY. NY on the 12th. Is it possible the car will be in and out of the VDC?

I was told that the date on the owners lounge is the "ESTIMATED" date to the delaer. Mine has moved up to TODAY from Sunday. Hope that means I gan get it tomorrow (or today), but it may be next week...

I know no matter what day it arrives @ my dealer I can't get the car. The Dealer told me it will take their body shop a week to install the Aero kit and then a few more days for service to put some parts on the car.
Although when I see that its @ the VDC and my MA calls me about details on the delivery I'm gonna tell him to tell me when the car arrives. So I can roll in and drool over it.

Hearing about all these delays from stereo upgrades and dealer installed options makes me glad Nugget is so plain Jane! Here it is, his first sunrise at sea, chowing down and socializing with his shipmates! And at the other end, since he was loaded toward the end, I'm hoping he'll be among the first to unload and head for the dealer!

Specs:
2005 MC White over Liquid Yellow
Cold weather package: heated leatherette seats, mirrors and water jets
Sport package: DSC, spoiler, 16" five stars, fog lamps, sport seats
5 Speed Getrag manual
Rear fog lamp (just to fill up that extra toggle space!)
Anthracite interior
Onboard computer
MF wheel with cruise

Also won a set of 15" stock rims on Ebay and will have snow tires mounted for next winter. Other than that, my only concern is finding enough twisty roads between here and my dealer that the breakin period can be over by the time I get home! Pete

Well it was fun while it lasted. My car apparently didn't make the MAERSK TEA which left yesterday. I just tracked it this morning and the ship and booking number had changed. Now it's scehduled to go out on the TAKASAGO on May 12th. It's marked as "waitlisted" - whatever that means. So unfortunately it'll be sitting at the docks for over a week before it finally leaves.

Based on that I should get it either at the very end of May or even the beginning of June
